bstreetsmart bstreetsmart gives students who are most at risk, a realistic look at the trauma caused by road crash

More than 18,000 students from across NSW and the ACT attend bstreetsmart each year at Sydney's Allphones Arena. In the morning, students witness a confronting car crash re-enactment. This is followed by real life stories from young car crash survivors which drives the message home that this can happen to them. After the morning session, students are able to visit a large number of interactive displays teaching them about road safety issues before they return to the Arena to learn more about the subject. The event was founded by two trauma coordinators from Sydney's Westmead Hospital in 2005 as they were tired of seeing a large number of young drivers come through their wards and decided education to minimise this is key.

We're back for another year of bstreetsmart! Watch our team and CEO Dominic Teakle on the Nine.com.au TODAY Show this morning, talking about why the first 3-5 minutes after a crash are crucial.

Would you know what to do before emergency services arrive? Learn why it's crucial to check airway obstruction, control external bleeding, and know how to do CPR. Looking forward to meeting the thousands of students coming through Qudos Bank Arena this week.

Will your school be joining us? Don't worry, you can still access our free Learner Driver First Aid course: https://driverfirstaid.org.au
