Early Behaviour Intervention vs Specialist Behaviour Support
What’s the difference?
✨ Early Behaviour Intervention
👶 Age range: Younger children aged 0–9
💡 Focus: Building early skills – communication, play, routines, emotional regulation
📈 Goal: Support development early and reduce challenges over time
📍 Location: Support typically provided in the home, clinic, or daycares/schools
💰 Funding: Often funded as Improved Daily Living, and commonly shared with other multidisciplinary supports such as Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy
✨ Specialist Behaviour Support
👴 Age range: Children, teens and adults aged 2–65+
💡 Focus: Understanding and reducing behaviours of concern, increasing independence, and improving quality of life
📝 Includes: Assessments, Behaviour Support Plans & team training
📍 Location: Flexible support across the home, clinic, schools, online, and community settings, including SIL homes, group homes, and residential care facilities
💰 Funding: NDIS Behaviour Support (Core or Capacity Building – Improved Relationships)
💙 All support is tailored to each individual’s needs, values, and goals. These are the most common differences between the two types of behaviour support.
