Seborrheic keratosis (SK) is a very common, non-cancerous (benign) skin growth that appears as a waxy, scaly, "stuck-on" spot, typically developing in people over age 40. Often appearing in shades of brown, black, or tan on the face, chest, back, or shoulders, these growths are harmless, non-contagious, and frequently increase in number with age. Although harmless, they can be itchy, and continue to grow. They can get in the way of shaving and get caught on clothing. It’s a small simple procedure to remove these lesions.
