Mental Mobility

Mental Mobility Redefining the traditional concept of first aid to include mental health. My definition of “mental mobility”.

I have tentatively defined mental mobility as the ability to function in a positive and creative manner even in an environment of uncertainty. It is the ability to act appropriately within a reasonable time frame to tackle situations relevant to one’s area of responsibility. It is a large canvas in which pro-activity, creativity, decision making, and initiative are some of the subsets. It can thus be defined as the “ability to function positively and aggressively in an environment of quick changes, uncertainty and inadequacy of information”.

When someone is broken, don't try to fix them. (You can't). When someone is hurting, don't attempt to take away their pain. (You can't). Instead, love them by walking beside them in the hurt. (You can). Because sometimes what people need is simply to know they aren't alone.

“A Movember study (found) 78 per cent of blokes believe that they’re there for their mates if they needed emotional support, (but only) 48 per cent of men believe that their mates are there for them if they needed emotional support,”

Men might be prone to “go it alone” when they’re facing dark days, but if you could lean on your mates a bit more things might be easier to deal with.

Our Story

The primary purpose of Mental Mobility is to facilitate and train individuals Mental Health First Aid techniques. Mental Health First Aid can be applied in any setting, in particular it is important organisations have a Mental Health First Aid Officer or Officer depending on the organisations size. Mental Health First Aid course teaches people (18 years and over) how to offer initial support to adults who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves. The course curriculum is evidence-based, as informed by Mental Health First Aid Australia.
