The Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED) is the peak body for eating disorder professionals committed to leadership and collaboration in research, prevention, treatment and advocacy. Our goals include integrating expertise, facilitating communication, generating and disseminating evidence-based knowledge and practice, recognising excellence, promoting understanding, and advocating on behalf of those living with, and those working in, the eating disorders field. ANZAED has members from all professional disciplines in New Zealand and all states and territories of Australia. ANZAED works to address the large number of complex issues in Eating Disorders at social, community and individual levels. ANZAED holds an invited position on the steering committee of the National Eating Disorders Coalition in Australia and works with partner international organisations, notably our 'sister' organisation the international Academy of Eating Disorders (AED).

TODAY, a new National Taskforce has been established to address the growing impact of social media on body image and eating disorders, especially among young people.

The Taskforce brings together leading experts, clinicians, researchers, lived experience advocates, and key eating disorder organisations, including ANZAED , following a roundtable convened by MP

ANZAED supports this national, collaborative effort and the Taskforce’s recommendations to make social media safer through stronger regulation, industry accountability, and public education.

We’re thrilled to congratulate TrEAT Registry on receiving a $2 million MRFF grant to expand and strengthen this vital work, building a robust national data infrastructure to support people and families affected by eating disorders.

The TrEAT Registry (Australia & New Zealand Clinical Quality Registry for Eating Disorders Treatment) is a collaborative project bringing together specialist clinics, researchers, policy leaders, and people with lived experience to build a learning health system that uses real-world clinical data to improve care and outcomes.

Supported by ANZAED, the National Eating Disorders Collaboration, and the Butterfly Foundation, TrEAT is guided by a diverse Scientific Advisory Committee committed to ethical, inclusive, and innovative practice.

This short-term role (approximately two days of work) is a great opportunity to gain experience in academic publishing and contribute to ANZAED’s annual conference.
