Insightful new research indicates that massage therapy is effective in treating chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).

The study found that Chinese massage treatment has a significant therapeutic effect on CFS symptoms without causing adverse reactions.

While more trials would strengthen these findings, this 2024 publication from a peer-reviewed medical journal emphasises the potential benefits of massage therapy in treating this chronic condition. Find out more at DOI: 10.1097/MD.0000000000037973.

Our Story

Established in 1984, the Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SITCM) is one of Australia's oldest and most respected educational institutions in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Located conveniently in the Sydney CBD, the Institute offers a Bachelor degree in TCM with a timetable that makes part-time work easy. Our lecturers and clinical supervisors have been involved in TCM for many years, as both educators and practitioners. Many run their own private TCM practices, and most originally studied TCM in China.

The course is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework and approved by the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia for national registration in all three divisions: Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Chinese Herbal Dispensing. Both our Bachelor of TCM and Vocational Education and Training courses are recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework.

The SITCM Teaching Clinic serves the public and provide a facility for students to practice. It is an affordable option for those interested in TCM treatment. The Clinic is supervised by highly qualified TCM practitioners who are registered with the Chinese Medicine Board of Australia and have been practicing TCM for more than 10 years.
