- - Autism Awareness Day - -
Autism is a different way of experiencing, processing, and engaging with the world. As a community, we have a responsibility to move beyond awareness and towards action, creating spaces that are proactive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all people.
Today is about recognising and celebrating difference. It’s about valuing the unique perspectives, strengths, and ways of thinking that autistic individuals bring to our world.
There is so much to learn when we take the time to understand, listen, and adapt.
We also want to take a moment to acknowledge the parents, families, and carers.
We see you.
We see the time, the patience, and the relentless advocacy. We see the effort it takes to navigate systems that aren’t always designed with your child in mind.
We see how tasks that others may take for granted can take hours, days, weeks, even years, of dedication, learning, and persistence.
Your work does not go unnoticed.
At Stronger Tomorrow Ability Service, we are committed to walking alongside you, to honour, respect, and support the work you are already doing. Our role is not to change who your child is, but to build on their capacity, celebrate their differences, and help create environments where they can truly thrive.
As both a support worker and a father of neurodivergent children, and someone who is neurodivergent myself, this space is deeply personal. I know there is still so much work to do, but I also see the strength, resilience, and love within the families I support every day.
And that gives me hope.
Today is a reminder for all of us to keep learning, keep listening, and keep building a community where every individual is understood, supported, and valued, exactly as they are.
