International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPwD)
Wednesday, 3 December, was International Day of People with Disability. Itโ€™s a day to promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. This year's theme is Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress. One in five people in Australia live with a disability, including more than half of all older people. Our community is a better, stronger place when we support inclusion for people with a disability.

Many disabilities are non-visible. Some people choose to show this with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower as a way to share that they may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.

This week we want to highlight that we value the people with a disability who are part of our lives, workplace and community.

Learn more here:

About IDPwD IDPwD is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. Each year the UN announces a theme to observe for International Day of People with Disability. The annual theme provides an overarc...

A huge thank you to Houndtees for their generous support and for helping Hank look extra adorable during his visits! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’›
Our residents absolutely light up when Hank walks into the room - his presence brings comfort, connection, and plenty of smiles. Pet therapy continues to be one of the most meaningful parts of our activity program, offering moments of joy, calm, and companionship to everyone he meets.
Weโ€™re so grateful for the kindness and community spirit behind this donation. Thank you, Hound-Tees, for being part of the happiness Hank brings to Tallangatta Health Service. ๐Ÿถโœจ

BUILT BY COMMUNITY, FOR COMMUNITY!
Starting the relaxed community conversation about what a local food hub could look like in Tallangatta โ€” shaped entirely by locals, for locals.

Come along for a chat about:
โ€ข what matters most to you when it comes to fresh, local food
โ€ข what would make it easier for locals to buy from local growers
โ€ข ideas and possibilities for community
โ€ข how you might like to be involved (in whatever way suits you)
Nothing is set in stone โ€” this is the very beginning, and weโ€™d love to hear your voice.

๐ŸŒธ What a wonderful Seniors Month itโ€™s been! ๐ŸŒธ

Throughout October, our residents have truly embraced every opportunity to create, explore, connect, and celebrate. Just a few of the highlights include showcasing our beautiful craft creations at the TICC, exploring our stunning local area on bus adventures to Staghorn Flat and Yackandandah, posing for professional portraits with the support of our local Community Hub, welcoming fantastic entertainers into the facility, enjoying live music and afternoon tea at the Memorial Hall provided by Towong Shire and dancing the day away at our Spring Dance!

A heartfelt thank you to our residents for your enthusiasm, creativity, and willingness to join in every experience - youโ€™re the heart of everything we do. ๐Ÿ’•

Each moment has been filled with laughter, colour, and connection - a perfect reminder of the joy that comes from sharing experiences together.

Residents at Tallangatta Health Service have been celebrating the Seniors Festival with plenty of laughter, music and good company.

They enjoyed an uplifting bush poetry performance from Geoffrey Graham, whose storytelling and humour filled the space with smiles. Residents also joined Towong Shire Councilโ€™s special afternoon tea and concert at the Memorial Hall - a lovely chance to connect with the wider community. ๐ŸŽถโ˜•

And to top it off, Jim and his violin brought beautiful live music right to our Lakeview doorstep for all to enjoy. ๐Ÿ’›
