Why your affirmations may not be working.

Affirmations are powerful.
They can help reprogram the mind.

But if your nervous system is dysregulated, they won’t fully land.

It’s like sprinkling seeds onto dry soil.

You can plant the most beautiful seeds, but if the soil is hard and dehydrated, nothing grows.
The soil has to be softened first.

Your nervous system is the soil.

If it is in survival mode, contracted, braced, anxious, the body is not open to receiving the message.

You can repeat “I am safe” or “I am worthy,” but if your body does not feel safe, the affirmation stays at the surface.

Regulation comes first.

Using your breath to calm the nervous system creates emotional safety within the body.

From that place, positive thoughts and affirmations can drop deeper.
They can settle.
They can integrate.

When the body feels safe, the mind becomes receptive.

You do not create from fear.
You create from safety.

So before you repeat the affirmation, regulate.

Use your breath to bring your nervous system back to safety
Soften.
Then plant the seed.

This is a vulnerable post for me to share…but my intention is to help the women who feel bloating, pain and inflammation in their digestive system.

Regulating my nervous system has been a game changer in all areas of my life including reducing pain and inflammation in my digestive system.

I now feel pain free and comfortable in my tummy and the bloating from the inflammation has deceased significantly.

My cortisol levels have decreased, my hormones have naturally balanced, my metabolism is strong again..it feels good to be in my body again.

This is a simple yet powerful somatic practice that calms and relaxes the nervous system. Bringing you out of survival mode and into regulation.

While doing the practice, connect to the breath of inhaling through the nose for the count of 4 and slowly exhaling through the mouth for the count of 6.

This combination of breath and body based healing will have a profound effect on regulating your nervous system.

Let’s normalize nervous system regulation. Not the constant state of survival that many people are locked into.

Another beautiful morning holding space 🍃

My intention for this class was to guide others to drop out of the mind and connect more deeply to the subtle whispers of the body.

The mind can be so strong, creating a sense of disconnection from the body.

When the nervous system is stuck in survival, this creates a disconnection from our intuition.

The more stress, anxiety, overwhelm and overthinking the quieter your intuition becomes.

When you regulate the nervous system, it begins to relax and soften. The calmer you become, the more in tune you become to your body and your intuition. It’s like turning up the volume on your speaker.

Your intuition is your inner guidance system. When you are calm and regulated you can tune into your own body for guidance.

This is where you will begin to experience true alignment in all areas of your life.

You will have the ability to tune into the felt sense in the body of what ‘feels’ like a YES and what ‘feels’ like a NO.

Learning the techniques and having the tools to regulate your nervous system is one of the most powerful and transformative things you can do for yourself.

If you desire change in your life, it must come from within first. Nothing on the outside will create lasting change in your life. It may temporarily bring relief, fill a void and soothe discomfort but this masks what’s truly going on beneath the surface.

To bring lasting change, growth and transformation is to go within, heal and regulate your nervous system.

Calm then becomes your guiding emotion not fear.

This has been the path that I have taken. It has been challenging and at times uncomfortable but choosing to stay the same is also challenging and uncomfortable.

So ask yourself do I want to stay stuck, and repeating the same patterns for the rest of this year or do I want to grow and evolve and truly embody the highest version of myself.
