Why your affirmations may not be working.
Affirmations are powerful.
They can help reprogram the mind.
But if your nervous system is dysregulated, they won’t fully land.
It’s like sprinkling seeds onto dry soil.
You can plant the most beautiful seeds, but if the soil is hard and dehydrated, nothing grows.
The soil has to be softened first.
Your nervous system is the soil.
If it is in survival mode, contracted, braced, anxious, the body is not open to receiving the message.
You can repeat “I am safe” or “I am worthy,” but if your body does not feel safe, the affirmation stays at the surface.
Regulation comes first.
Using your breath to calm the nervous system creates emotional safety within the body.
From that place, positive thoughts and affirmations can drop deeper.
They can settle.
They can integrate.
When the body feels safe, the mind becomes receptive.
You do not create from fear.
You create from safety.
So before you repeat the affirmation, regulate.
Use your breath to bring your nervous system back to safety
Soften.
Then plant the seed.
