If we care about people we need to start asking more about what's really going on.
Everyone has hard times in life so before you judge stop and think about what they could be going through.
Mental health is a big important part of our lives for people with or without disabilities.
"We've all said 'I'm fine' when we weren't. Not because we're trying to lie, but because sometimes, it feels safer to pretend. We might fear judgement, feel ashamed of 'not having it together', or worry that our pain will burden others."
The reality is, we will all face struggles at some point in our life. If someone says they're good, but you expect they aren't, you can try following it up with nonjudgemental comments that invite conversation, such as:
👉'You've had a lot on your plate, so I completely understand if you're not OK'
👉'I've noticed you haven't seemed yourself lately, so I just want you to know I'm here for you'
👉'If you ever need to chat, I'm always here to listen'
