I have been very quiet on social media this year…and there have been many reasons.

Recently, the one I have been most grateful for is a very special class that stole my heart. They were bursting with capability, cleverness and compassion and just needed a spark to accept their full potential.

Being with them inspired me. It was challenging at times, but it reignited my passion for teaching in a way I can’t even craft into words.

While I contemplate my next year, and where my path leads I know, thanks to these amazing kids, it will be with a stronger focus on the educational and wellbeing focus of Abundant Forager.

While I’ll continue to produce small batch teas, oils and incense, my focus in the new year will be on hands on learning, continuing to develop home school curriculum and in class resources for teachers passionate about agency, empowerment and nurturing children’s uniqueness and whimsy.

Thank you for your continued support, Alana

After a windy day is the best time to take a basket out and restock your nature tables or natural craft supplies.

If you’re in the Barossa, you don’t even need to travel far - this huge haul was just from my neighbouring streets.

A great after school activity!

Perfection is overrated. We can spend our whole lives chasing it - in ourselves and others - and never find it.

Embracing real doesn’t mean settling for a mediocre life. It means embracing a gentler, kinder perspective.

A child won’t love you less for sending them to school ten minutes late with mix matched socks. People who matter wont judge you for making mistakes, being messy or having challenging times - they will celebrate what you are overcoming.

So, when you spill your morning coffee or when you accidentally let someone see a flaw that you’re not ready to embrace yourself…take a breath

Remember you don’t need to be perfect to be perfect to the right people. Remember that you’re the most perfectly imperfect, growing, healing and learning version of you and that’s more than enough.

The greatest gift my father gave me was an example to follow. He didn’t need to tell me things, because he showed me.

He showed me through example how to care for and loved the untamed and wild parts of land, life and people and to do so with unconditional awe and respect.

It’s not the words we say that inspire children, it’s the legacy of our actions.

Taking a pause…

It’s so easy to forget the lessons of the seasons. I’ve fought hard against winter this year (as my muddy floors will attest). I’ve forgotten all the lessons of using this time to reflect, rest and draw on creativity.

Just like nature, we need periods to slow down in order to flourish later. What looks like hibernation on the outside can be our greatest time of growth.

For me my winter pause will be a pause on new clients, but not on behind the scenes work!

I love the space being created here and want to invest all my creativity and love into making it the best offering to nurture whimsy, safety and belonging.

Come Spring will be an official opening to celebrate the hard work of , as well as the support of my family, my teacher tribe and so many others.

So much gratitude, as always, for the inundation - I can’t wait to learn and nurture alongside you in the near future, Alana 💛🌻

There is no job in the world I look upon with more awe than motherhood. The ability of a single woman to be simultaneously the fiercest protector and most gentle space for their child.

Taking my mama’s birthday to remind all the mum’s out there that they are the sunshine their child can hold.

‘my mother
is pure radiance.

she is the sun
i can touch
and kiss

and hold
without
getting burnt.’ - Sanober Khan

Today the inspirational Megan McLoughlin of spoke at an event I attended.

She spoke beautifully about the importance of perspective. It was a timely reminder not to be defined by the perspectives of others, nor allow our own perspectives to define our view without empathy or understanding.

One of my favourite analogies was of a playground. We don’t all need to be in the same sand pit. There’s plenty of playground out there - if the people in the sandpit aren’t your tribe, go try the flying fox.

Love that this can apply to everything from personality…
There’s room for me and you, no matter whether we play together or separately.

To learning…
There’s room on the playground for mainstream schooling to home schooling and everything in between.

To expression…
There’s room for expressing emotions loudly, messily and courageously, and room for unfurling slowly and mindfully.

And that playground doesn’t need to look the same for all of us! Mine is a wildflower meadow, but yours can be a gaming console and that’s wonderful.

Treasure collecting with kindred spirits this morning. I’m not sure there’s a more magical way to spend the day than watching a child run bare foot through creeks in moody weather. My heart is full.

‘Making dreams come true’…that’s what the superstar making me a new coop for the flock called his work. And he wasn’t wrong.

Currently still working on making my dream space come true. It’s currently more ‘hopes and mud’ than ‘hopes and dreams’…at least in the garden…But progress is progress!

Thank you for all your recent enquiries! So humbled and grateful to be a part of your children’s journeys. I will be posting updates and space opening dates soon and appreciate your patience 🫶

A year ago today I made the painful decision to leave a career I loved.

That year has been filled with joy and opportunities, but also much anxiety and moments of regret.

I’m not sure the reality of how much my life and I have changed really hit until the last few weeks.

Last week, I set the intention of having a week for me - to reflect and grow. And, it didn’t happen. That, I guess, is the reality of life.

So, as I take this week to finally breathe and reconnect with nature, myself, and my vision, I want to remind you that growth is not without setbacks and pain.

As we embark on winter let’s all be a little kind on ourselves and embrace the many seasons we need to grow into all we can be.

Next week an exciting new space will start to take form, beginning the next season of Abundant Forager. I can’t wait to share it with you.

Sunday nights are fast becoming one of my favourite evenings, because I get to prepare for Monday’s Kids Yoga class .

This week I’m taking inspiration from the beautiful Emma and her luxuriously relaxing flow this morning.

We will be using the scent of lavender to accompany a balancing and calming flow, relaxing with a self-massage of our faces and ending on a candle meditation. Each little cherub will leave with a tea to try at home that includes our plant of the week - lavender.

I am so grateful to help start the week for these special little yogis. 💜🙏💜
