How to Keep Your Glasses & Lenses as Clean as Possible!!!
Smudged lenses don’t just look messy — they actually strain your eyes and make everyday tasks more tiring. The good news? A few simple habits can keep your glasses clearer for longer and extend the life of your lenses.
1. Rinse Before You Wipe
Always rinse your lenses with clean water before wiping. Dust and sand can scratch lenses if you try to wipe them dry.
2. Use Proper Lens Cleaner
Avoid tissues, paper towels, or clothing, they’re too abrasive. Use a microfibre cloth and a proper lens spray or pre-moistened lens wipe. These clean more effectively and protect the coatings.
3. Hold Your Frames by the Bridge
When cleaning, grip the nose bridge or a solid part of the frame. This prevents bending the arms and keeps your glasses fitting comfortably.
4. Keep Them in a Case (Not a Bag or Pocket)
Throwing glasses into a car console, handbag, or pocket is the fastest way to scratch lenses. A hard case protects them from pressure, dust, and impacts.
5. Avoid Heat
Leaving glasses in hot cars or near heaters can damage lens coatings and warp frames. Heat is the silent killer of good eyewear!
6. Clean Your Microfibre Cloth Too
A dirty cloth doesn’t clean — it redistributes oils. Wash your microfibre cloth regularly in mild detergent and air dry.
