Sharing this because the visuals in this post are spot on . This is a great summary of the education provided in a consultation for the client suffering peri/ menopausal symptoms.
The zone of chaos is exactly as you see it in the graph! Just like a Mr Squiggle drawing! Is it any wonder we feel like we are all over the shop with our hormones rising and falling all over the place.
For this exact reason, blood tests shouldn't be used to diagnose perimenopause.
If you are hitting a road block because your current Gp is basing a diagnosis purely on what is seen on blood tests, then please seek a second opinion. To be told your symptoms aren't relevant because a blood test at any one point in your cycle is showing an accepted hormonal level...this is not good enough!
The message I always try to ensure my client's are taking home from their consultations when discussing the commencement of MHT is that of the "preventative measure". We can protect ourselves from the following diseases/ conditions by supplementing our hormones:
Cardiovascular disease ✅️
Dementia ✅️
Osteoporosis ✅️
Loss of muscle mass
Vaginal changes ✅️
Why wouldn't we do everything possible to prevent the onset of these conditions 🤔
