SIGNING OUT

I'm finding it really hard to be on social media these days - noticing the way it completely drains my energy.

What used to be a way of staying connected has turned into an algorithm chasing game, and I can't keep up - I dont want to keep up!

This has been the place where I've shared my work, advertised events, and grown my audience.

But it's come at a cost. It has taken me away from the place I feel most connected, most myself - nature.

Rather than spending my time being of service to nature, I'm sitting in front of a screen, seeing my words fall into the void.

I'll keep my account open (at least for now). And I'll share when I'm moved to share, but I'm done with all the promoting and advertising.

FOREST = FOR REST

This is the first time I've seen this - the words inside 'forest'.

But of course, it makes complete sense. It's the first place I go when life becomes too much.

The forest has a way of calming the nervous system and bringing us home to this beautiful web of life we all belong.

As my eldest once said, 'We are never alone, Mama - everywhere I look, there is nature' 🌿

THIS!

My heart is so full of love for our little Wild Space family.

After a week of questing and training in Advanced Awareness, I wasn't really sure how I'd be able to hold space on Monday.

But these beautiful humans came together and wove their magic into the space in a way that deeply held us all.

So much gratitude for the collective healing this space brings every time we gather ✨️

Remembering the Old Ways

We’ve just had our first Wild Space gathering for the year, and I’ve woken today feeling so incredibly blessed to have this community!

🥣 We spent the morning sitting under the shelter, shelling bunya nuts and chopping fruit for morning tea – stewed fruits and bunya nut crumble, cooked on the fire (delicious).

🌿 We shared songs and stories and gratitude – for the land and the abundance of food it provides, as well as for our children, our families, our community…

🐟 We learnt about traditional bamboo fish traps – and the dedication and trial and error it takes to come up with a design that traps eels.

🌈 And we wandered down to the rainbow pool and played in water, jumped off the rocks, and painted little bodies with ochre.

We’re not a school, or pre-school, or play group – nor are we a forest school or bush school (I’ve taken the word ‘school’ right out of the equation).

Rather than a ‘child-centred’ space - where all the activities are centred around the children – we’re a community centred space.

Perhaps we’re not so different from what you might expect from our hunter-gatherer ancestors – where everyone (big and small) worked together for the good of the whole.

It might be small, but my hope is that we create a ripple effect for cultural repair here. Because today, more than ever, we need to come together 💛

ALWAYS...

It's not what we've been taught in our modern culture

And it's definitely not addressed in our schools

But when we listen to our bodies (our instincts), something shifts.

It's like the external world responds to the internal.

New pathways open - that were not visible when we were following someone else's path.

This was my journey from mainstream schooling to unschooling.

SO MUCH MEDICINE 🌿

We've just completed another round of Wild Quest and my heart is full!

This work - weaving deep nature connection, ceremony and ritual and shamanic medicine - is medicine for my soul.

To witness the healing and transformation that comes when we step out of our comfort zones, into the unknown...

When we acknowledge our fears, lean into them and make them our allays...

When we trust the wisdom of our body, the land, and the spirit that moves through all things...

Is an absolute blessing, an honour, and I CAN'T WAIT to do it all over again!

Next group program will be in May but if you cant wait until then, you might like to consider a 1:1 experience!

PREAPARING THE SPACE

One of my favourite parts of running workshops and programs actually comes before people arrive.

It's the tending, clearing, preparing, noticing...

For our next round of Wild Quest, I felt called to prepare some little medicine pouches.

The land gifted me with fibres, and with those fibres, my hands began to weave.

I don't know what's being created until it starts taking form - and then it's just a matter of listening...

Yesterday, I shared a little video speaking to the potency of questing at this time.

She has the most gentle nature - even my children feel safe spending the night in her embrace.

She'll hold you, protect you, guide you, and when she senses you're ready, she'll share her wisdom with you! ☀️

THE JOURNEY...

I love the way poetry speaks directly to the soul.

I could hear or read the same words - shared in a different format - and resonate to some extent.

But poetry is different - it stirs something deep within, a deep inner knowing that connects us to the truth of life.

That's what 'The Journey', by Mary Oliver, does for me.

It's one of the many poems I share during Wild Quest because it offers some context (whilst speaking to the soul) of what lies ahead.

The quest looks different for everyone, but generally speaking, it's not a leisurely walk in the park.

More often than not, it's wild nights, roads full of branches and stones, and voices shouting at you to turn back.

But with the words of Mary Oliver still fresh in our minds, we know what to look out for.

We can acknowledge it, thank it for trying to protect us, and then carry on knowing THIS is our journey!
