Can someone put me in touch or give my contact to a person putting together care parcels of horse equipment for the people washed out in the recent flooding? Nothing too exciting just a girth and a couple of other things I don't need anymore. Thanks.

We had a super day at Henty Show. Newbie was a little naughty in the first 2 classes but realised the error of his ways after that and put in solid performances for the rest of the day coming home with 3 first places and 2 second places. No champions this comp as the horses and riders were just a bit more polished than us but we held our own and it was a super result since our ring was right next to the showjumping and right in front of side show alley. Thanks again to mum for ground support.

Just arrived in Henty. In typical NSW fashion we had accommodation for us and Newbie after 1 phone call to the show committee. Looking forward to the show tomorrow with the little man. Such a lovely community.

Team Newbie are just back from our trip to Port Fairy on the SA border for the last working equitation event of the year. He did a lovely dressage test for 65% and then stepped up a notch in the first obstacle course with 80% and then a lovely canter around the speed course. He's been ridden once in the last month due to my knee crapping out permanently and then had to carry me through sometimes going off his own bat to get the job done. SO happy with my little buddy. Super way to finish this competition year.

I took Darley to Mansfield Show this morning and while he was disgracefully naughty I pushed through (I was going to ride him home at one point he was so filthy) and we still did ok. I won both my riding classes a second in the Novice Hack and 3rd in the smartest on parade. I was really impressed with the judge in our ring. She was very fair and was really encouraging to a few inexperienced competitors which I thought was super. We have lots to improve on and with a few pointers from Renee hopefully I'll have a better ride with a little less attitude at Kilmore in a couple of weeks.

Newbie and I headed out to the WENEV working equitation comp this morning. It's our first comp at this higher level so when we won the dressage and got second and third in the 2 obstacle classes winning the reserve champ in our grade it was quite a nice surprise. He was amazing! While we were doing our dressage test a giant tree branch collapsed onto the horse yards behind us, the entire long side of the arena got blown in so we were riding around bits of arena while finishing the test and it started raining as well as the gale force wind and we got a score of 67.6%! The obstacle courses were falling down around us but he held it together and didn't bat an eyelid. Soooooo happy with the horse no one wanted that doesn't have the temperament to be a decent performance horse!!!

I just got my photos back from the Working Equ State Champs. Such a pretty boy. That entry and halt was a 9!

So happy with the little man today. Champion led to start then I won the champion open rider, reserve local rider won the pair of riders & finished with winning the stockman's challenge. Huge day for both of us. A great start to the year.

Little Newbie and I completed a working equitation protocol day this weekend. He did really well and was a little tense through the dressage tests but maintained his straightness and obedience which was nice. The obstacle runs were a little frustrating with some of the judging showing unrealistic expectations in the lower classes but once I remembered to pick up the long stick the right way our scores improved slightly. I felt it very successful as Newbie was a very good boy and I'm looking forward to our next comp in April.

Port Fairy was just the most beautiful little place with a really spectacular drive there and back. As it turns out it was the best part of the weekend. Newbie was a star and behaved very well under the circumstances. Next time I'll just send my entries in and stay home as I think the result will be roughly the same without the inconvenience of having to leave home to prove it!

@ Port Fairy (SA border) for our first working equitation comp. Its stopped raining & there is only the small issue that no one has been left handed before so no one knows what to do with some of the obstacles setup. The initial soln was to just ride right handed (ahhh nope!) Fingers crossed I can at least get through without getting eliminated.
