💙✨ Today, on International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Toowoomba Care Support Services pauses with gratitude and respect. This day is not only about awareness, it’s about honoring the dignity, resilience, and everyday courage of people living with disabilities.

Recognized worldwide since 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly, and supported by organizations such as UNESCO and the World Health Organization, this day reminds us that inclusion is not an act of kindness, but a commitment to justice and belonging.

Disability is part of the beautiful diversity of humanity. Each person’s story reminds us that when we create spaces that are accessible, compassionate, and welcoming, we don’t just support individuals, we strengthen our whole community.

We celebrated the only way we know how — mountains of steak, endless chicken wings, and a chocolate cake that absolutely finished us off. 🤣

🎅🎄 The Christmas Spirit Has Officially Kicked Off Early! 🎄🎅

John (yes, that John—Franky's mate with the wild ideas and even wilder yard) decided this year’s Christmas light show needed to be bigger, brighter, and borderline bonkers. Naturally, he called in reinforcements.

Franky gathered a few of his mates, loaded up a 7.3m truck with enough lights to make Santa squint and spent the week turning John’s yard into a festive wonderland. There were laughs, a few battle scars and let’s just say the swear jar got a workout 😷

This is going to be John’s biggest display to date!

Monday catch-up edition 🏳🏁

Our admin team sat down today to unpack some of the trickier stuff. Issues that have popped up in our support crew, admin flow, and our client's space. It wasn’t just a surface skim, we dug in, got honest, and started mapping out what needs to shift.

Also… two kookaburras decided to supervise from nearby. 🐦🐦
They cackled through half the meeting, offered zero solutions, and still somehow kept morale high. Nature’s way of reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously.

Unfortunately our General Manager Mae wasn’t in the meeting this time but she was in the background giving the laptop a serious workout. We felt her presence in every keystroke 💻🔥

Progress isn’t always pretty, but it’s worth it.

✨ Today we celebrate a huge milestone for our Shane-o! ✨

10 years ago, Shane’s life changed forever after his motorcycle accident. Through every challenge, he has shown incredible strength, resilience, and determination.

We are so proud of the man he is today, his journey is a true reminder of courage and perseverance. 💪👏

Here’s to Shane and the many more chapters ahead filled with growth, positivity, and strength. 🙌

🐔 Not Your Average Day on the Job! 🛠️

At Toowoomba Care Support Services, we’re all about doing what needs to be done (to a certain degree of course) even if it’s not in the handbook.

This week, one of our participants needed a hand keeping their chooks from wandering off… so what did we do? Built a temporary fence right there in the yard! 😄

It wasn’t fancy, but it did the trick and the chooks are now happily pecking around in their safe little space. Sometimes support looks like paperwork and appointments… and other times it looks like zip ties, star pickets, and a bit of elbow grease.

We love being part of moments like these. It’s not just about ticking boxes, it’s about showing up, getting creative, and making life a little easier with heart in hand (and a lot more fun) for the people we support.

Big cheers to the team for jumping in and making it happen. You legends! 👏

🌟 Full Circle Moments in Toowoomba 🌟

Today was one of those beautiful reminders of the impact we leave on others.

An ex-participant of Toowoomba Care Support Services, now living elsewhere, made a special trip back into town—just for the day. And who did they want to catch up with? Our annoying boss man Franky!

That simple gesture said it all. It made Franky feel proud, valued, and truly special. Sometimes, the most meaningful recognition doesn’t come with fanfare—it comes with a visit, a familiar face, and the words: “I wanted to see you.”

To everyone who shows up for others in ways that matter—you’re making a difference, even when you don’t see it right away. 💙

Today we had the absolute pleasure of celebrating Chris’ birthday over a fun-filled lunch, surrounded by good good, big smiles and a few too many servings of cake! 🍰

Joining him were a few of his incredible support team members and admin team, who brought laughs, the cheer and the unofficial title of “professional party starters”.

Here’s to another year of happiness, cheeky jokes and living life to the fullest - one birthday at a time! 🥳🎉
