Protect your loved ones this season.

The Queensland government has announced the rollout of free flu vaccinations for 2024, in a bid to help ease pressure on the state's healthcare system.

Over 700 Queenslanders have already been hospitalised this year from influenza, with 11 dying from the disease. Influenza vaccination rates for QLD dropped massively in 2023 compared to the years prior, with just a third of residents getting the jab last year.

The free vaccinations are available to anyone over 6 months old, with Queensland Premier Steven Miles hopeful that Queenslanders will get vaccinated before the flu season begins in May.

β€œIt’s our hope that all eligible Queenslanders, especially the vulnerable, roll up their sleeve and get vaccinated. It’s the best way to protect yourself and those around you this flu season,” he said.

From tomorrow (Friday 11 November), Queensland's COVID-19 traffic light system will move to AMBER. 🚦

There are currently moderate rates of COVID-19 community transmission and Queensland is entering a new wave.

While the traffic light is amber, we recommend you wear a mask:
πŸ‘‰ in healthcare settings
πŸ‘‰ indoors, if you can’t socially distance
πŸ‘‰ on public transport
πŸ‘‰ if you are older or medically at risk
πŸ‘‰ if you’re around people who are vulnerable to COVID-19.

Stay home if you’re sick, maintain good hygiene and keep up-to-date with your vaccinations.

Take a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) if you get COVID-19 symptoms – or every two days, if someone in your household has COVID-19.

If you get COVID-19:
πŸ‘‰ register your RAT result
πŸ‘‰ stay home until you’re well again
πŸ‘‰ wear a mask for 7 days after your test
πŸ‘‰ avoid visiting hospitals, aged care or disability care for 7 days after your test, unless you are receiving care
πŸ‘‰ ask household members to closely monitor symptoms.

You should always wear a mask if required by a healthcare provider, venue, or household.
