Feeling overwhelmed? It is a very common feeling for many people today. Multiple demands on our time and focus, causing us to feel like we need to work harder.
Instead of pushing yourself beyond your limits, try these strategies.
1. Take time to figure out what is overwhelming you. Ask yourself what tasks, if they were completed, would alleviate this pressure I am feeling?
2. Set boundaries on your time....remember, working harder is not the answer. The opposite is true...slow it down. Say no, stick to your work hours, and take self care time to replenish your energy and focus. Fill your cup!
3. Break down those tasks that are overwhelming you into small manageable tasks over time. Write down your plan and stick to it.
4. Delegate or ask for help. Sometimes, we just won't be able to manage a task on our own. Ask friends, colleagues, pay for a service to complete part of the task. Don't go it alone!
5. Challenge the pressure you are placing on yourself... are you being realistic in what you are expecting of yourself? Is there a part of you seeking perfection? Know when good is good enough and ask yourself if more time on the task is really beneficial?
