The importance of sleep 😴 can never be underestimated - as per the findings on this trial with first responders in NZ

We recently performed a research study on frontline responders to see the effects of cyclical deep pressure applied by the FLOWpresso on sleep, stress and anxiety.

We gave two different groups three, forty minute FLOWpresso sessions (one each week, for three weeks), and this is what resulted back from self-reporting questionnaires.

Study A: 87 participants

92% of the participants reduced their sleep disturbance scores.

61% of participants had reduced stress scores.

53% of participants had reduced anxiety score.

61% reported improved feelings towards their overall health and wellbeing.

Study B: 86 participants

77% of participants reduced their sleep disturbance scores

63% of participants had reduced their stress score

55% of participants had reduced anxiety scores

50% had improved feelings towards their health and wellbeing.

One of the biggest reasons why people avoid having uncomfortable conversations is because of brains 🧠…they do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure! And the fear of hurting a relationship. The importance of GENTLE bodywork when taking a mental health day!

If you’ve been thinking of taking a mental health day or have had one (or a few) over the past unfolding of events, here is a consideration that could take those mental health day breaks to the next level. (And yes it is backed my science see what Dr Bessel Van Der Kolk has to say).
Now more than ever our nervous systems need support and the collective traumas we have experienced over the last 2 years can be effectively moved out of the body. [Pls also see “Molecules of Emotions” by PhD biologist Candice Pert]

The emphasis is on gentle bodywork and what I mean about bodywork is doing some sort of somatic therapy to assist in mental health recovery. Nextflix isn’t body work.
Fact - the mind/body connection is real (just think how your body feels when you are angry or in love)

For mental support, movement is crucial so here are some of my favourite bodywork suggestions:
FLOWPresso (see the pic) - coaxes lymph and fascia to move ever so gently, feels like a warm hug - which is sensational for anyone.

Qigong - an ancient GENTLE discipline that can be modified for any age, shape or level, the benefits to stress levels is unparalleled.

Deep breathing - don’t be like me who took a good 40 yrs to discover the power of giving your body a super hit of nitric oxide daily!

Ice baths - this one takes bit of pre-work and supervision but the benefits are off the charts and highly “addictive”. Do your homework first though and always have a buddy or coach.
