PATIENT SUCCESS!

Well done to Lynda, who recently undertook the Cape to Cape Track hike in Western Australia, following a fracture in her sacrum earlier this year. Lynda presented to Up & Active with SIJ and lower back pain, following her initial injury, with the goal of getting back in the outdoors doing what she loves. Her specific goal was to participate in the Cape to Cape hike and was stoked to complete it. Some tailored guidance around her rehab planning and strength progressions proved helpful in achieving this. Well done Lynda!

This week our Volleyball Academy were lucky enough to have physiotherapist Bec Redgen from Up & Active Physiotherapy visit to talk about her pathway to, and career in, professional international volleyball, getting some prehab and training tips. We then hit the court with the retired Volleyeoo for some practice!
Thanks, Bec!

Over the 13th-14th September, both Emily Cowling and Stephanie Hart attended the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia’s national conference. 👩‍⚕️

This year’s topics were Pelvic Pain and Performance: Neurodiversity, Athletes and Workplace. It was a great opportunity to learn and update our knowledge on these topics, as well as network with a diverse range of health professionals that work in this space.

Em & Steph were also tutors for the practical workshop “Integrated Pelvic Pain Examination”, where we guided and provided feedback to GPs, gynaecologists, nurses and physiotherapists on a trauma-informed approach to pelvic examinations and how we can help our patients feel safe in this space. ♀
