Matsu Mobile Massage

Matsu Mobile Massage Massage to keep you moving! Matsu (pine in Japanese) is used to categorise the highest quality of a good or service. Come experience the difference today!

Massage is not just a matter of rubbing the right bits ...

With any physical therapy there are five fundamentals — location; angle; tool; direction; and, intensity. We take a foundational approach to your treatment, starting with postural analysis and creating an individually tailored approach to address underlying issues. By applying an understanding of functional anatomy and physiology. While mechanical manipulation should "do something", we carefully balance that against the level of discomfort caused. Where Matsu Massage is different from many other modalities/approaches is that we are mindful to ensure that we are not undoing the work that has been done at one end of your body through tension created by pain or discomfort on the site currently being worked. We use a range of techniques, specifically trigger point release, myofacial activation, and stretch-based relaxation to alleviate symptoms and treat underlying causes of pain and discomfort. At all stages we work with you— not "on" you— to have you feeling at your best.

Great post by !!!

When we give someone an exercise and their pain improves afterwards, it’s easy to assume their improvement in pain is a result of better biomechanics.

Surprisingly there is very minimal evidence for this.

What’s MUCH more likely, is that exercise helps pain by some combination of more systemic effects, including:

•Reducing systemic inflammation
•Releasing endorphins
•Increasing neuroplasticity
•Promoting tissue remodeling
•Increasing self-efficacy
•Improving mental health
•Providing social support
•Building expectation of recovery
•Enabling return to valued activities

All of these (and there are more) are general, not specific effects of exercise. In other words it doesn’t really matter WHICH exercise you do. They all help.

So what’s the best exercise for pain?

The one you:
* Enjoy
* Find most accessible
* Expect will help
Thanks

"All ITB's are tight. You can't lengthen them.." 🚫

Great quote from Greg Lehman

Travis Pollen dove into this topic in the March issue of Physio Network 📰 He reviewed a study titled "The Effects of an Acute Bout of Foam Rolling on Hip Range of Motion on Different Tissues".

It compared foam rolling the ITB vs the glutes on hip adduction passive range of motion. Some interesting findings! 🤨

Members - to read his take on the study, and the clinical implications and limitations of it, log in to your members area and see the March issue. Or search for 'foam rolling' using the search bar 🙂

Hello everyone! It has been quite a while since I have posted an update here. I’d like to thank all of my loyal clients who have been patient over the past eight months while I have been pursuing my Physiotherapy studies in Bundaberg. One year down now, with excellent results, and I am very much enjoying the process of study.

As a special offer for November, and a thank you to everyone who has been patient through my unavailabilities, I am going to offer one hour massages with a $5 discount — so $70 for casual clients and $65 for VIP clients. Additionally, all initial consultations will be $70.

Remember, an hour massage means one hour on the table, rather than the 45 minutes many therapists provide. So book yourself in now!

This is a long documentary, but given how often training in massage talks about fascia, it is worth looking at where the state of knowledge is currently at.

Fasciae, hidden connective tissues, are largely unstudied parts of our anatomy. What role do they play in the organism? And could a better understanding of them help in finding a cure for back pain?
