🐎 Supporting Horse Energy Naturally
Protecting Your Energy Through Rest & Boundaries

The Horse carries strong fire energy — enthusiasm, drive and momentum. Without rest, that fire can burn too brightly and too quickly.

True vitality comes from knowing when to pause.

Ways to protect your energy:
• Honour rest without guilt
• Set boundaries around your time and availability
• Reduce overstimulation (screens, noise, constant doing)
• Prioritise sleep as non-negotiable

If you’re feeling irritable, exhausted or emotionally fragile, this may be a sign your body needs restoration, not motivation.

🌿 Rest is not weakness. It is repair.

🐎 Supporting Horse Energy Naturally
Movement as Gentle Medicine

The Horse symbolises movement — but not all movement needs to be fast or intense to be beneficial.

From a naturopathic and Chinese medicine perspective, gentle, consistent movement supports circulation, mood, digestion and nervous system balance — without depleting your reserves.

Think:
• Walking outdoors
• Stretching or mobility work
• Slow strength building
• Breath-led movement

If your body feels heavy, stagnant or restless, it may be asking for movement — but in a way that feels supportive, not punishing.

This year invites us to move with our bodies, not against them.

🌿 Gentle movement restores flow.

🐎 Supporting Horse Energy Naturally - Nourishing the Heart with Connection & Joy

In Chinese medicine, the Horse is linked to the Heart — the centre of joy, connection, and emotional wellbeing.

When the heart is nourished, energy flows freely.
When it’s depleted, we may feel flat, disconnected, anxious, or emotionally exhausted.

Supporting heart energy doesn’t always require doing more. Often, it’s about coming back into connection.

Gentle ways to nourish the Heart:
❤️ Meaningful conversation
❤️ Time with people who feel safe
❤️ Laughter and moments of joy
❤️ Time outdoors and fresh air
❤️ Allowing yourself to be supported

For many mothers and caregivers, emotional nourishment is the first thing to be sacrificed — yet it’s one of the most essential foundations of health.

This is your reminder:
Joy is not a luxury. Connection is not optional.
They are medicine.

🌿 When the heart feels held, the body can soften and heal.

🐎 Supporting Horse Energy Naturally

In Chinese medicine, the Horse is associated with movement, vitality and the Heart — but when energy is pushed too hard, the nervous system can become depleted.

One simple, nourishing way to support Horse energy is through magnesium-rich foods.

Magnesium plays a key role in:
✨ Calming the nervous system
✨ Supporting restful sleep
✨ Reducing muscle tension
✨ Balancing stress responses

Foods naturally rich in magnesium include:
• Dark leafy greens
• Pumpkin seeds
• Almonds and cashews
• Avocado
• Cacao (yes, good quality dark chocolate counts)

If you’ve been feeling wired, restless, or emotionally flat, this may be your body’s gentle request for deeper nourishment — not more pushing.

Supporting your foundations allows your energy to move with ease, not urgency.

🌿 Food is information. Choose nourishment that supports your nervous system.

🌿 Worms & Parasites in Humans – A Naturopathic Overview

Gut parasites are more common than many people realise and can affect both adults and children. They are generally grouped into two main types: protozoa and worms (helminths).

🔬 Protozoa are microscopic parasites, commonly spread through contaminated water.
Examples include:
• Giardia – often picked up from swimming pools, lakes, or recreational water
• Entamoeba histolytica – can spread via contaminated water or food, daycare centres, animals, or livestock

These parasites commonly affect digestion and nutrient absorption.

🪱 Helminths (parasitic worms) are larger parasites and are more common in warm climates with poor sanitation or contaminated soil and water.
They include:
• Roundworms (such as hookworm and threadworm), often soil-transmitted
• Tapeworms, which in severe cases can affect the nervous system
• Flukes, spread through contaminated food or water, some of which can damage the intestines, liver, and spleen over time

⚠️ How parasites affect the body
Gut parasites can:
• Feed on blood and tissues, leading to iron and protein loss
• Interfere with digestion and nutrient absorption
• Trigger inflammation, affecting appetite and energy levels
• Activate the immune system, increasing nutrient and energy demands
• Contribute to fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, and low vitality

🕰 When is the best time to worm?
Many practitioners time parasite support around the full moon, when parasite activity is traditionally thought to increase.

🔁 How often should you worm?
This varies depending on exposure, symptoms, gut health and immune strength. Some people may benefit from periodic support once or twice per year, while others require a more individualised approach.

🌱 Herbal parasite support
Herbs traditionally used in naturopathic practice include:
• Wormwood
• Black walnut
• Cloves

These herbs are often combined carefully to support different parasite life stages and overall gut balance.

⚠️ Important note
Parasite cleansing is not suitable for everyone, particularly during pregnancy, breastfeeding, for young children, or where medical conditions or medications are involved. Professional guidance is important to ensure safety and appropriateness.

🌿 In naturopathy, we focus not just on removing pathogens, but on strengthening digestion, immunity, and the internal environment so balance can be maintained long-term.

The Year of the Horse reminds us that health is not about doing more — it’s about moving with intention.

In Chinese medicine, the Horse is associated with the Heart and Fire element, governing circulation, joy, and emotional wellbeing. Mothers often live in “Horse energy” permanently — giving, moving, holding, doing.
Who is holding the mother?

This year invites us to reconnect with what lights us up — while also protecting our energy reserves.

From a naturopathic perspective, this means:
✨ Supporting the nervous system before pushing productivity
✨ Nourishing the heart with whole foods, connection and joy
✨ Moving the body regularly, but gently — walking, stretching, breath-led movement
✨ Avoiding burnout by respecting rest cycles

If you’ve been feeling wired but tired, emotionally flat, or constantly “on the go,” the Year of the Horse is your reminder to slow the pace and support your foundations. Support the Heart through nourishment, rest, community and asking for help

True vitality comes from balance, nourishment, and listening inward — not constant acceleration.

🔥 39°C today in Maryborough — stay hydrated, properly! 🔥

With the heat climbing, it’s not just water your body needs — it’s electrolytes too. 💧

When we sweat, we lose sodium, potassium, and magnesium — minerals that keep our energy steady, muscles functioning, and mood balanced. Without them, you might feel dizzy, fatigued, headachy, or irritable (sound familiar?).

Children dehydrate faster than adults — especially when they’re running around, playing sport, or sitting in hot classrooms. Even mild dehydration can cause:
😣 Headaches or fatigue
🥴 Trouble concentrating
😢 Irritability or emotional meltdowns

Here’s how to keep your body (and your little one's) truly hydrated:
🌿 Add a pinch of good quality salt (like Celtic or Himalayan) to your water.
🥥 Include coconut water or make your own electrolyte drink with water, lemon juice, salt, and a drizzle of honey.
🍉 Eat hydrating foods — watermelon, cucumber, oranges, berries, leafy greens.

If you’re feeling flat, light-headed, or foggy today, it might not be fatigue — it might just be dehydration. Start sipping now and your body will thank you later. 💧✨

💬 Comment HYDRATION and I’ll share my favourite homemade electrolyte drink recipe — it’s natural, refreshing, and perfect for hot days like this one!
