Rib sprains can be a surprising source of discomfort, often arising from activities that involve sudden movements, heavy lifting, or even intense coughing. This injury occurs when the ligaments connecting the ribs to the spine or sternum become overstretched or torn. Symptoms may include localized pain, difficulty breathing, and tenderness in the affected area. If you've ever experienced rib pain, you know how it can affect your daily life, limiting your movement and causing discomfort with even the simplest tasks.

Osteopathy offers a holistic approach to treating rib sprains. Our skilled osteopaths focus on identifying the root cause of your pain, ensuring that not only the symptoms are addressed but also the underlying issues contributing to your discomfort. Through gentle manipulation and targeted techniques, we aim to restore balance and promote healing in the affected area. This can lead to improved mobility, reduced pain, and faster recovery times.

Book an appointment online today to consult with one of our experienced osteopaths and start your journey to recovery.

Did you know that your diaphragm is more than just a muscle for breathing? It plays a crucial role in your overall health and can even influence back pain! 🌬️

The diaphragm is a dome-shaped muscle that sits at the base of your rib cage, separating your chest cavity from your abdominal cavity. Its attachments extend to the lumbar spine, and any dysfunction in this area can lead to a cascade of issues, including discomfort in your lower back.

When the diaphragm is not functioning optimally, it can create tension in the lumbar region. This tension can result in compensatory movements that may put unnecessary strain on your spine and surrounding muscles. Over time, this can contribute to chronic pain and discomfort.

Osteopaths understand this intricate relationship between the diaphragm and the lumbar spine and are trained to assess and treat these connections.

At Sequence Osteopathy, we focus on a holistic approach to your health. Our experienced osteopaths will evaluate your posture, breathing patterns, and overall body mechanics to identify any dysfunctions that may be contributing to your back pain. Through targeted treatment techniques, we aim to restore balance in your body, alleviate pain, and enhance your quality of life. 🌟

Explain Pain CPD session with Dr Charlotte Brynes 🧠

One of the most valuable reminders from this session was that explaining pain isn’t a one-way lecture — it’s a conversation.

It requires validating, listening, adapting, and meeting each patient where they are in their understanding.
Pain is always real, and helping patients make sense of it can be a powerful step in their recovery.

Always learning so we can better support our patients at Sequence Osteopathy.

The Sequence Osteopathy team recently visited Kieser Australia in Torquay for their National Open Day.

It was a great opportunity to tour the facility, learn more about their strength-based rehabilitation approach, and get a hands-on look at the specialised equipment used to support patient outcomes.

We’re always looking for opportunities to continue learning and exploring different approaches to rehabilitation so we can keep improving the care we provide our patients.
