Sometimes the cost of staying in something becomes yourself.

If your goals, life situation, relationships, or work require you to abandon your values, silence your needs, or sacrifice your peace just to make it work… it’s not alignment.

Alignment doesn’t ask you to betray who you are.
It doesn’t demand that you shrink, tolerate disrespect, or live in a constant state of stress just to keep things together.

Real alignment feels different.
It allows you to stay connected to your values.
It protects your peace.
It lets you be fully yourself — not a version of you that survives by self-abandonment.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is pause and ask:

“Is this truly aligned with the life I want to live?”

Because anything that requires you to lose yourself in order to keep it…
was never meant to keep you. ✨

Small business owner realisation:
You get paid the same whether you’re stressed… or vibing.

Some days running a small business feels amazing.
The work is meaningful, the team is in a good rhythm, and you remember why you started the whole thing in the first place.

Other days you’re carrying the weight of absolutely everything, the decisions, the responsibility, the financial pressure, the “what ifs”.

And the funny part?

Your pay doesn’t change depending on how hard the day is.

One of the biggest misconceptions about small businesses is that the owner must be doing really well financially. In reality, most small business owners pay everyone else first.

Wages.
Super.
Rent.
Insurance.
Subscriptions.
Supplies.
Tax.

All the things that make it possible for the service to exist.

What’s left at the end… that’s the owner’s pay.

So no, most small business owners aren’t doing it because it’s the easiest or most lucrative path.

They’re doing it because they believe in the work.
Because they care about the people they serve.
Because building something meaningful for their team and community matters.

Some days you’re stressed.
Some days you’re vibing.

Either way… you show up and keep building.

Sometimes in therapy there will be moments where things go quiet.

Not because anything is wrong.
Not because your therapist is judging you.
And not because you’ve said the “wrong” thing.

Often, that silence is intentional.

Therapy isn’t a normal conversation where someone fills every gap. Sometimes a pause gives your mind space to notice what’s coming up for you — a feeling, a memory, or a thought that hasn’t quite formed into words yet.

You might be thinking:
“Should I say something?”
“Did I do something wrong?”
“Why aren’t they talking?”

But many of the most meaningful moments in therapy happen in those quiet seconds.

That pause can be the moment where something clicks.
Where an emotion finally catches up with the story.
Where you realise something new about yourself.

So if there’s a moment of silence in your session, know this: it’s not awkward for us.

It’s often where the real work is happening.
