This week Ashby Street Medical Centre enjoyed a pink lunch to raise awareness for Breast Cancer 🩷

🩷 Breast Cancer is the most common form of cancer among females
🩷 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime
🩷 1 in 550 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime

Dr Jasprit graduated from Fiji School of Medicine in 2007. Thereafter, he went on to complete his general surgery training in Fiji. Dr Jasprit moved to Australia in 2017 and has since been working for Monash Health network as a surgical registrar.
He is now transitioning into general practice.

Diabetes is the fastest growing chronic condition in Australia.

Diabetes week is July 13-19 🩵
We are reminded of the risk factors for Type 2 Diabetes:
🔹Age (people over 40 are at higher risk & risk increases with age)
🔹 Family history of diabetes
🔹 Ethnicity and cultural background (including people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pacific Island, Indian subcontinent or Chinese cultural background)
🔹 History of gestational diabetes or PCOS

Risk factors that we can modify to reduce our risk:
🔹 Carrying excess weight (especially around your stomach)
🔹 Being physically inactive
🔹 Unhealthy eating habits
🔹 High blood pressure
🔹 High levels of cholesterol or other fats in blood
