A new certificate for the mantelpiece.
In December, I completed eighteen months of training and exams to be awarded the Australian Physiotherapy Association Title of APA Continence and Women's Health Physiotherapist.
I set myself the goal, found it challenging juggling work, family and study, and doubted myself along the way, but I am so happy that I finished it and can continue to bring the care my patients need and deserve to Gippsland.
"APA Titled Physiotherapists are highly qualified..with expert knowledge and skills in their area of practice....The APA Title serves as a professional mark of distinction." APA.

To celebrate we're shining a spotlight on Claire Issell Physiotherapy a rural woman we find inspirational! Claire is a practising in Gippsland, serving the community she grew up in as a musculoskeletal and women’s health physiotherapist, alongside bringing up her family.
"Physiotherapy has been a rewarding career, and I love being able to offer high-quality services to the regional area. I love that I was able to choose my own path and that it has easily fit around my family, having been able to bring up three sons on our farm."

After 7.5years of being pregnant or breastfeeding, I decided I needed to achieve something for me, that was separate from family and work.
So i upgraded my bike in April and set myself the challenge of competing in a 3hr MTB race.
And today I did it!! Pretty chuffed.
And got 1st in the ride section 🥇 (less serious category).

I talk to my patients a lot about self care and the importance of finding things or keep doing things that bring them joy.
This photo taken today is the essence of joy for me. 7.5 years since we last got to ski together. I've certainly filled my cup, and we're ready to head home to cuddles with our kids.

Had a fabulous day in Melbourne at "Womens and Mens Health Physiotherapy" practice this week.
They opened over 30years ago and have so much passion in the area of pelvic health. So fabulous to spend the day with them, sharing ideas and learning from the best.
It can be quite isolating working rurally in a specialty field, so days like these help me recharge and continue to build my passion for helping women during menstruation, pregnancy, postnatal, and beyond.

Fabulous course on transperineal ultrasound by my mentor Tamara
Thankful for a scholarship, which allows rural practitioners to continually upskill and provide high-quality care in the country.
