A huge thank you to all of the people (and dogs!) who attended the Out of the Shadows Walk in Traralgon today- we were absolutely blown away by the amount of people who showed up to remember those lives lost to su***de, and to reduce the stigma around mental health and help seeking behaviours.

We had teams attending from Victoria Police, Quantum Support Services, Anglicare Victoria, ACSO , as well as numerous community members- some who had travelled from as far as Dandenong and Inverloch to show their support πŸ’™

We are grateful for the Gippsland community and inspired by the ongoing passion that is shown towards reducing the stigma. Reminder that if you wish to join our centre, or donate, please follow this link Out Of The Shadows - Lifeline Gippsland

We will be walking again tomorrow from 10am at the Lake Kernot loop in Morwell, we hope to see you there πŸ₯°

Two people have recently required emergency care because they experienced he**in overdose after using what they thought was co***ne or methamphetamine.

He**in is an opioid and is a very different substance from co***ne and methamphetamine, although it often appears in a similar white powdered form.

Small amounts of opioids can cause life-threatening overdose, especially in people who have never or rarely used opioids.

Signs of opioid overdose include breathing slowly and reduced consciousness (meaning someone is hard to wake up). In some cases, the person may also have tiny pupils.

If you experience toxic drug effects, or are present when someone has an unexpected reaction, seek help immediately by calling Triple Zero (000).

Naloxone is an easy-to-use medication that can reverse opioid overdose – it is safe to use even if you are not sure whether someone has taken opioids.

Naloxone can be accessed free of charge at participating pharmacies, needle and syringe programs and the medically supervised injecting centre.
