This March, we’re proud to support ’s Womanhood campaign for Endometriosis Awareness Month, supporting Endometriosis Australia. 1 in 7 women live with endometriosis, and the average time to diagnosis is 7 years. 100% of profits from Arcaa’s Womanhood hats and T-shirts are donated to help fund research and support progress toward earlier diagnosis.

The fear of tearing during birth is incredibly common, but it’s something many women don’t always feel comfortable bringing up.

Talking about tearing or episiotomy with your midwife or obstetrician is an important part of preparing for birth. Understanding when they might happen, how they’re managed, and what recovery can look like can help you feel more reassured and confident going into labour.

If this is something you’ve been worried about, speak with your care team during your antenatal appointments. Questions and concerns like these are both expected and always welcome.

Save this for later, or send it to someone who’s pregnant.

Tracking your cycle? 🩸

You don’t need to become obsessed with data, but three simple things can really help your doctor understand what’s going on for you.

recommends paying attention to:

Frequency From Day 1 of one period to Day 1 of the next. Somewhere between 21–35 days is typical. If yours is regularly outside that, it’s worth a gentle chat with your doctor.

Duration How many days are you bleeding? More than 7 days is worth bringing up.

Heaviness Are you changing protection every 1–2 hours, flooding, or passing large clots? That’s not something you just have to live with. 🤍

These three things can completely change the direction of a conversation with your GP or gynaecologist, especially if you’ve been looking for answers around heavy periods, irregular cycles, endo or adeno.

Save this before your next appointment, and share it with someone who might need it too.

💩 Haemorrhoids aren’t always a fibre problem. Sometimes, they’re a posture problem.

Fibre is often the first thing recommended and it absolutely has its place but it only addresses part of the picture.

Haemorrhoids are largely a pressure issue. If that pressure isn’t being well managed, symptoms can linger no matter how balanced your diet is.

Straining. Breath-holding. Sitting on the toilet for long periods. Pregnancy. Postpartum changes. Pelvic floor tension. All of these increase load through the re**um, if the pelvic floor isn’t able to fully relax and coordinate, that strain doesn’t just disappear. It accumulates.

This is where something as simple as your toilet posture can make a real difference.

Elevating your knees above your hips with a small stool or even a rolled towel helps straighten the re**um and allows the pelvic floor to soften and lengthen as it’s designed to. 🚽💩

If symptoms are persisting, Phoebe, our Pelvic Floor Physio at Wahini Health, offers personalised support to help you understand what’s really going on and how to restore comfort in a way that feels sustainable.

It’s Valentine’s Day week, and we need to talk about something our Gynaecologists hear in the consult room all the time: pain during intimacy.

So many women think it’s just “normal.”

We believe that pleasure should be pleasurable. It is not just about function; it is about joy, connection, and honouring your body. When pain is present, it is a sign to stop and listen to what your body is trying to tell you.

Often, discomfort is related to pelvic floor muscle dysfunction or hormonal changes, rather than a purely physical block. True intimate health requires addressing both the muscles and the medical factors involved.

At Wahini, we believe in integrated care to help you reclaim that joy. By bringing together our Urogynaecologists, Gynaecologists, Pelvic Physios, and Therapists, we support you from every angle, treating the physical symptoms while nurturing your overall wellness.

📩 If you’ve been avoiding intimacy because of pain, speak to your GP about a referral or book a consultation via the link in our bio.👇 Follow us for more honest, expert-led conversations on women’s wellness and intimate health.

Worrying about milk supply is a common fear for new mums. But frequent feeding, cluster feeding and soft breasts don't necessarily mean low supply. Newborn stomachs are tiny and colostrum comes in small amounts. Frequent feeding signals the body to build supply.

In the early days, feeding every 1–3 hours is normal, as is cluster feeding in the evenings. And it's normal for breasts to feel soft while supply is transitioning. None of this automatically means you're not making enough milk.

Milk production is driven by removal. The more regularly milk is removed by baby or pump, the clearer the signal to keep producing. Watching your baby's cues, wet nappies and weight trends tells us far more than how your breasts feel.

Our , Gemma and Kate, are available via email 24/7 for patients. We also hold a monthly mothers’ group at both our Tugun and Ballina clinics for all local mamas. It's a safe space to connect, ask questions and sit with other mothers who are likely having, or have had, the same questions. 🙌 Save this for the nights you need reminding. If you'd like to join our mother’s group, send us a DM!

In your mid-20s, this becomes part of your healthcare. And it’s an important one.

From age 25, cervical screening every 5 years checks for HPV, a common virus most people will have at some point. While HPV often clears naturally, some types can cause cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer if they aren’t picked up early.

You’ve got two options, both safe and accurate:
🔬 clinician-collected
🧫 or self-collected (where appropriate)

29/01/2026

Do you know when you’re due for your cervical screening?

Between work, family, and everything else, it’s one of those things that’s easy to lose track of.

For people with a cervix aged 25–74, cervical screening is usually done every 5 years. And if you’re not sure when yours is due, there are a few easy ways to check in Queensland:

- Log into the National Cancer Screening Register through your myGov
- Call the NCSR on 1800 627 701 (Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm)
- Ask your GP or health clinic
- Or check the reminder letter sent to your Medicare address

Save this for later, or share it with someone who might need it. 🫶
