Vale Marty Mayberry - I saw him win his silver medal in the men’s downhill event at the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games - cheering him on in Whistler, Canada. We celebrated like crazy and erupted at the medal ceremony with the Aussie flag flying high. So sad to hear of his passing today. He was an incredible athlete and such an amazing mentor.

What a way to start the final day of . The FABULOUS Associate Professor Libby Callaway (Executive Advisor for ARATA) presented around the focus theme this year - Everyday People in The Sun, The Sea, and Using AT. Mind blown. Where she finds the time to do what she does, but to list a few key words and some amazing projects Libby has been involved in:

I missed using the TD I-13 from Tobii Dynavox at ATSA in Brisbane earlier this year - so jumped at the chance to try it out at AATC 2024 on the GC!! This set up is available at the stand.

What an amazing piece of technology. More than just having the ability for communication as an AAC device, the eye gaze control unit is compatible with most power wheelchairs - allowing the user to independently drive, switch between modes to allow repositioning, and communicate all in the one set up.

Needless to say - I need L plates - but with a little practice ladies and gentleman, I think I could pick it up! Just need to control that ADHD in me to keep focu ... oh look - squirrel!

It's come to that time of the year once again - the highly anticipated 2024 Australian Assistive Technology Conference (AATC) hosted by is here in our very own back yard! 'Sun Sea & AT: The Rising Tide of Assistive Technology'

Day 1 already done and dusted with workshops galore!! Today involved hearing about all things mobile phone access and infrared controls for power wheelchairs ... finishing off with interface pressure mapping for pressure management - both topics that we have a specific interest in when scripting wheelchairs for our clients.

Topped the day off with an evening shared with 60 other OTs passionate about assistive technology and learning from the best in the industry. How good are these conferences!

2 more days still to go, and plenty more opportunities for augmenting our skills in this amazing area of assistive technology
