Big news! ✨Last night, our incredible Therapy Assistant Nicole Shedden was named the Regional Winner at the NSW Government Training Awards – North Coast & Mid North Coast! 🥇 Out of over 40,000 nominations, she was place 1 of 3 finalists across the region, tonight she was announced the winner and is now heading to the National Finals in Sydney! 🎉

Nicole’s journey is one that means a lot to me personally. Over a year, she reached out to me every few months, asking for mentorship and a chance to work together. Each time, I said no — not because I didn’t believe in her, but because I was sitting in my own imposter syndrome, questioning whether I was ready to be that mentor for someone else.

Eventually, I said yes. And in true me fashion — someone who loves structure, ticking boxes and doing things properly — I encouraged her to sign up with TAFE, complete the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, and do a formal 2-year workplace traineeship under my guidance, with direct shadowing, learning, clinical education and mentorship every step of the way. When Nicole started with me I was working under the name and she transitioned with me in to

Watching Nicole grow into the compassionate, capable therapy assistant she is today has been one of the proudest moments of my career. 💛 She’s proof of what happens when people believe in you and you believe in yourself.
