WHAT IS STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION?
Structural Integration (SI) is a form of manual therapy and movement education that focuses on aligning and balancing the body’s structure in relation to gravity.
At its core, Structural Integration works with the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. When fascia becomes tight, stuck, or imbalanced (due to injury, stress, poor posture, or repetitive habits), it can pull the body out of alignment, leading to chronic pain, restricted movement, and postural dysfunction.
Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI) combines hands-on fascial manipulation with movement education, using the “Anatomy Trains” map — a detailed system of myofascial meridians (or lines of connective tissue) that run throughout the body, developed by Thomas (Tom) Myers, based on his pioneering work in fascial anatomy and movement.
