Our Director, Graeme, is taking on an incredible challenge in May 2026, cycling 500 km across Thailand as part of the Fitphoria Expedition to raise funds for Hands Across the Water.

This charity does amazing work supporting vulnerable children in Thailand by providing safe homes, education, and long-term care.

Graeme has committed to pushing himself well outside his comfort zone for this cause, and any support would mean a lot. Even a small donation can make a real difference. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this post would be greatly appreciated.

Here’s a sneak peek of our brand new consult space coming together, featuring our very own site supervisor, interior design critic, and certified tapemeasure wrangler, Jaye! 😎💕

With hard hat, high vis, and a hammer in hand (don’t worry, she’s leaving the actual building to the professionals), she’s making sure every shelf is ready to hold frames, forms, and maybe a few emergency chocolate stashes for the boss 🍫👓.

It’s official, demolition has begun at My Optometrist! Walls are coming down, plans are coming to life, and we’re one step closer to unveiling a refreshed space just for you. 👷‍♀️👓

We might be under construction, but we’re still here to help!

The Week That Was…

Wow – what a week! As many of you may know, there was a fire at Bargain Square, and while we’re incredibly grateful that our practice wasn’t the source, we sadly did sustain significant damage. Our hearts go out to our neighbours and everyone affected.

But – there’s a silver lining! Amidst the chaos, we’ve decided it’s the perfect time for a refresh. Some exciting changes are on the way, and soon our humble little shop will be looking almost as amazing as our beautiful patients!

For now, we’re running with a skeleton team and limited capacity, so please bear with us as we navigate this temporary chapter. We’ll keep you posted with updates on our progress and when we’re back to full strength.

To everyone who’s called, messaged, or dropped in to check on us – thank you. Your support and kind words have truly lifted our spirits.

To our valued patients, due to unforeseen circumstances, our store will be unable to accommodate eye exams and some glasses collections for the next few days. We are currently experiencing system access issues and apologise if you have already booked an appointment with us for the coming days.
