When I first opened the studio, I always dreamed of having Ashtanga on our schedule. It’s where my own journey into yoga began, and I’ve always believed it to be such a powerful foundation to learn from and expand into. When I met Tessa through our community classes, I knew instantly she was the perfect teacher to bring this practice to life at Sama.
Originally from Finland, Tessa found yoga at the age of 16 through an Ashtanga course, and it quickly became the thread that’s woven through every chapter of her life. A lover of all forms of movement, she has always returned to yoga as her constant, a grounding practice that offers both discipline and peace.
After completing her teacher training in Nepal, yoga became not just something she practiced, but a way of life. Alongside her Ashtanga practice, Tessa is also a dedicated Vipassana meditator, approaching both stillness and movement with mindfulness and grace.
For Tessa, teaching yoga means sharing the gifts that have been passed down to her from teachers across the world; helping others grow stronger, more self-aware, and more compassionate with each practice.
A highlight of Tessa’s time at Sama was connecting with our beautiful community and those amazing post yoga coffees at .coffee
Tessa’s classes have brought a sense of strength and quiet focus to our space, honouring the roots of Ashtanga while making it accessible and inspiring for all. I am excited to share with you that Tessa will be continuing to offer Ashtanga in the South West during the new year. Please reach out to her directly to discover or continue this practice with her.
Thank you, Tessa, for sharing your depth of practice, your light-hearted warmth, and your unwavering presence with our community. You’ve offered so many the opportunity to experience the transformative power of this tradition, and we’re so grateful for your time and energy here.
