It happens in the mess - the busy, the emotional, the chaotic mess - when you CHOOSE to show up differently.

Use my PLANTS plant building framework for easy weight loss meals:

🥔 P - potatoes or other starch (1/4 plate) for fibre & sustained energy
🫘 L - legumes (1/4 plate) for protein, fibre & satiation for hours
🌶️ A - amp up flavour with herbs, spices, condiments
🥦 N - non starchy veg (1/2 plate) to keep volume & micronutrients high but calories low
🥜 T - tiny bit of fat (avo, nuts, seeds) to keep calories low
🍽️ S - sit down, slow down, savour & eating til comfortably satisfied

I kept trying to rebuild my gym habit… but something in me was resistant.

I’m almost 52, and I wanted to rebuild strength, to thrive as I age.

But every time I promised, I stalled.
Skipped sessions. Made excuses.
Felt frustrated with myself.

So I hired a functional Pilates PT…

As a coach, I know the difference that having someone to be accountable to makes to following through and achieving success.

Turns out, I needed so much more than accountability.

She spotted what I needed straight away:
Tight spots. Weak spots.

I didn’t flunk science, but it was my least favourite subject…

I just didn’t get it.

To me (then) it was neither logical nor creative.

I loved maths & art, sports & music.

So who would’ve guessed this kid now absolutely geeks out on learning biology, anatomy, neuroscience, even trying to understand quantum physics…!

Sure I don’t have a science degree…

but I inderstand enough to teach my clients about their bodies and behaviours so they can change their health & weight results.

Old dogs CAN learn new tricks.

So can YOU.

You’re not overeating because you’re hungry.⁣

When you say…
“I just 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 like something sweet…”⁣
Or “I just 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 something crunchy…”⁣

That feeling isn’t hunger, it’s 𝘩𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘵.⁣
It’s your brain chasing familiarity.⁣

It’s your brain saying,⁣
“Give me the thing that makes me feel better for 4 seconds.”⁣

That desire you feel isn’t a biological need of your body.⁣

It’s learned behaviour.⁣
It’s repetition.⁣
It’s your reward system firing because it always fires at that time…⁣
with that emotion… in that situation.⁣

Feeling isn’t fact.⁣
Desire isn’t hunger.⁣
And cravings aren’t instructions.⁣

This is part of the 60–70% of unconscious over-eating that most people don’t even realise is happening that affects their weight.⁣

It’s not always junk food you’re overeating.⁣
You’re also not always binge eating.⁣

It’s often moments of habit-driven eating that keep you stuck.⁣
And those bites add up fast.⁣

If you keep feeding your cravings…⁣
You’ll struggle to see fat loss, no matter how “healthy” your choices are.⁣

Because eating that is not a response to your body’s hunger cues closes the calorie deficit gap - a gap that is necessary to maintain over a long period of time to achieve your goal.⁣

Why achieving weight loss goals is hard 👇🏻⁣

It takes dedication to stay uncomfortable for a LONG period of time.⁣

Every time you decide to make a change -⁣

whether it’s changing your diet, quitting mindless snacking, reducing restaurant food, having a conversation with your family about change, or finally doing the thing you’ve been putting off -⁣

there’s a familiar voice that shows up.⁣

It says things like:⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.”⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦, 𝘪𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴.”⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.”⁣
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵?”⁣
“𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥.”⁣

That voice isn’t the truth.⁣
It’s your subconscious mind doing its job - keeping you safe through familiarity.⁣

Here’s what’s really happening 👇⁣

Your brain is wired for one main goal: 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭.⁣

Not growth. Not progress. Not even happiness.⁣

So when you set a new goal, your brain flags it as a potential threat.⁣

Change = 𝘶𝘯𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘳.⁣
Unfamiliar = unsafe.⁣
Unsafe = 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘦.⁣

To keep you “safe,” your subconscious pulls out the oldest trick in the book -⁣
fear disguised as logic.⁣

“𝘕𝘰𝘸’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.”⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺.”⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘢𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘺𝘴.”⁣
“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘺.”⁣

Sound familiar?⁣

But it’s not truth.⁣
It’s self-protection.⁣

Your brain would rather keep you in a situation you hate - because it’s known - than risk the unknown, even if the unknown is better.⁣

And this is why you keep finding yourself in the loop of wanting to change…⁣
then talking yourself out of it.⁣

It’s not because you’re lazy.⁣
It’s not because you lack discipline.⁣

It’s because you’ve been taught to interpret discomfort as “danger” -⁣
when in reality, discomfort is just growth trying to happen.⁣

Every transformation starts with fear.⁣

But fear isn’t a stop sign - it’s a compass.⁣
It’s pointing directly toward the part of your life that’s ready to evolve.⁣

The question is - will you let fear drive, or will you learn to drive with it in the passenger seat?⁣

Because that’s what real change looks like:⁣

Not waiting to feel ready.⁣
Not waiting until the fear disappears.⁣
But moving with it - knowing it’s normal, expected, and temporary.⁣

Perfectionism is keeping you stuck. 🫣

You don’t fall off track with your weight loss goals because you don’t know what to do.

You fall off because you’re trying to do it all perfectly.

Eating every meal perfectly - whole foods, clean, perfectly macro & nutrient balanced.

And when it’s not?

When you’re super busy or tired - you grab toast & PB instead of veggies… or you just can’t be bothered and order Uber Eats…

You tell yourself, “scr*w it, I’ve blown it now”

And that’s when the “f*ck it” cycle begins.

The truth is - it’s not your food that’s failing you.

It’s the all-or-nothing mindset that says if it’s not perfect, it’s pointless.

You WANT to do it…

But you struggle to make yourself do it consistently.

You can see what you’re choosing, but why do you still do it?⁣

About Me & My Coaching

I started The Plant Power Coach in January 2020 with a burning desire to help other women discover the same health and weight loss benefits that I’d discovered when I first went Plant Powered.

I was always ‘pretty healthy’... My mother raised us on a whole foods diet, with most foods we ate being home made, whole food, low in sugar, low in processed foods and low in ‘junk’.

I gave up eating meat in 1994, as I was a passionate animal lover and never really liked the taste anyway. I was vegan for a few years, but after burn out from animal rights activism I drifted back to dairy and eggs again, ignoring my morals in favour of ease of eating.

I still ate what I thought was a healthy vegetarian diet, lots of fresh foods, I cooked most of my own meals from scratch... but I still ate plenty of dairy, cheese and eggs!
