Hey Precious Community

Let’s be real, for so many THIS YEAR has been a roller coaster, intense in all the difficult and generative ways a year of seismic shifts can be, …shall we say it’s kind of been like coming down the birth canal in breach position. And yes the last few days here in OZ, we are being asked to hold together through unimaginable things. I hope you’re all moving gently and extending love yourselves and to those you think might need it.

As we all wind down out of 25 and into new beginnings, LITERALLY (if you’re into numerology you know next year and it’s 1.0 is absolutely bringing the big NEW! ) I want to acknowledge those that have and are still moving through the deep valleys, those that have had to be brave in ways they could never have imagined, and those that have continued to keep moving forward despite it all, holding firm in their vision for themselves, or at the very least choosing to keep extending trust to life.

As I prepare for this season that for me is about connection, reflection, celebration, play and rest .. I want to thank those of you in my community who held me through my very own personal deep valleys this year, and all the beautiful inspiring women that have trusted me with their stories. I know all the work we have done together to hold and nourish our ground will become compost for a powerful growth year ahead..

Growth and Healing Isn’t Linear

As much as we are trying to move from one place to reach another, from an often difficult or stagnant place, to a new way of feeling and being, we don’t get there in a straight line.

We move back and forth, up and down, in and out, …making new connections along the way.

And eventually, whether fast or slow, we ARE new, in a new feeling, doing, being place.

No matter how much it feels like we’re meeting the same story again and again, remember that it’s never from the same point of awareness, you are always making new connections, ..keep moving, and keep extending love to your beautiful process.

Most of us can relate to feeling OVERWHELMED, it’s the body and mind’s way of telling us we have a NEED, generally a nervous system or emotional care need; to create space to listen more deeply to what is TOO MUCH, and what needs your attention.

It may be that life circumstances need to shift, but before you go there, DEEP BREATHS, self presence, so you can begin to understand and acknowledge what you’re feeling and what you need.

So you can ALIGN with what’s really true about your experience and begin to make the shifts you need to change how you FEEL.

A Simple Art Therapy Process

Sometimes creating space with intention to just explore and bring care to an issue or feelings, is as simple as breathing into you, choosing a colour or colours and making marks on the page.

Play, with shapes, lines, texture; notice what comes up in your feeling process and your body, let go of oucomes or how it looks and let you hands and colour express your feeling.

Let things open, be felt, processed.

Sit with your image and let your feelings mirror back to you. Perhaps your expression reminds you of something, Perhaps it has a name? Perhaps it doesn’t, maybe you’ll gain some insight, or release some tension from your body,

OR simply just FEEL better for creating space to be with YOU.

Becoming emotionally aware and developing the capacities and practices to engage with and process our feeling experience, is essential for our growth and healing.

Our feelings are an intrinsic part of our self regulation system, they are felt in our body and experienced at a cellular level, they impact our immune and nervous systems profoundly, particularly when suppressed, and will find a pathway for expression whether we give them one or not. Tension, pain, Anxiety and even Depression symptoms are commonly linked to unfelt, unresolved emotional experience.

Many of us have been taught to fear our FEELings, and denied the tools or awareness to understand their powerful role in our Care and Thriving. The good news is. it’s never too late to grow and develop NEW ways of being, new ways of caring for ourselves, profound healing and riches await those who are willing to Feel more deeply and heal FULLY.

NATURE as Care and Medicine

Spending more time in connection with Nature, has to be one of the most powerful and productive self-care tools we have access to, and honestly most of us here in OZ are spoilt for choice when it comes to opportunities to ground, breathe and reconnect with the natural world; even if thats just a patch of grass, a favourite tree, or simply getting our hands into the dirt.
Many studies tell us time in present connection with natural environments, particularly spent in close proximity to water has an often immediate nourishing impact on our nervous system and creates lots of happy chemicals in the brain. It’s proven that regular intentional time in relationship with nature can have a profound positive effect on our wellbeing. As cyclical beings Women can gain much insight about our self care from the mirror of natures seasonal wisdom.
It’s not rocket science, we all know how we feel when we let ourselves breathe into the earth, yet for many if us it’s a challenge to put the devices away, and to engage with the elements our bodies and minds recognise innately, that which we powerfully respond to.
