Heading along to A Day at the Gully today? 🎶🌿

We’ll be onsite from start to finish providing Health and Medical Services, with a full crew of Medics, Registered Paramedics and Doctors ready to support everyone enjoying the day.

So if Pete Murray promises you Better Days, we’ll make sure they stay that way. And if you get a little too enthusiastic and start belting out Opportunity like you’re headlining next year, we’ll still look after you.

The weather is looking mild, but festivals can still take it out of you. A few quick tips to keep things on track:

• Maintain regular hydration, aim for consistent water intake across the day
• Eat balanced meals to support energy levels and reduce the risk of fatigue
• Apply sunscreen and reapply every two hours, we've got plenty available!
• Pace yourself, take rest breaks in shaded areas as needed
• Keep your group together and actively check in on one another
• Seek assistance early if you feel unwell, dizzy, faint, or overheated

If you need us, we’re easy to find and always happy to help, just check out the map or have a chat to our teams. We're there if you need!

Over the past week, St John SA have been proud to support the emergency response to the Deep Creek bushfire, working alongside SA Ambulance Service and SA Country Fire Service as part of South Australia’s State Emergency Management Plan (SEMP) arrangements.

Pictured here is our team members Essie, Jordan, Indya and Ben who have been part of the team supporting the frontline teams at the Staging Area in Yankalilla.

For years, our services are scoped well have gone far beyond traditional 'First Aid', and our focus is on keeping firefighters and frontline personnel healthy, safe, operational, and ready to do the vital work our communities rely on them for.

By providing on-the-ground medical support to firefighters and support teams, we help minimise the impact on regional health services—so local ambulances and hospitals can continue serving the community.

Support has included responder health checks, medical care, hydration and fatigue management, and practical health advice aimed at reducing the risks of heat stress, dehydration, and exhaustion during prolonged operations.

We are proud to play a vital role in supporting those protecting our community, and remain committed to assisting where and when it is needed.

Thank you to all emergency services personnel involved, particularly SA Country Fire Service and SA Ambulance Service, for your professionalism, dedication, and care for the community.

Well done Ben! 👏🎉 https://www.stjohnsa.com.au/

Meet Ben, one of our volunteer ambassadors from Meadows. A nurse, St John Ambulance Team Leader and SAAS Ambulance Officer, Ben brings a unique combination to the table.

Ben began volunteering to gain more knowledge and clarity on his career goals within the healthcare sector.

“I have now continued to volunteer because of the friendships I made and the community I have built for myself. In their time of need, I want to give back to the community,” says Ben.

“I value the strong sense of family within my local team, the high-quality training and skills I gain, and the meaningful interactions I have with patients. Being able to support the community in times of need is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

Ben is also a 2025 SAAS Clinical Excellence award recipient. Ben will be partnering with Dayna a fellow volunteer ambassador from Meadows.

You can follow https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61587161373931 as they share their experiences of being a SAAS volunteer.

Watch & Act - DEEP CREEK Bushfire - Prepare to Leave

WARNING AREA

Deep Creek, Silverton and Blowhole Beach Road, 8km east of Cape Jervis near the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia

UPDATE

This warning replaces previous warning - Watch and Act issued on 02 Feb 2026 22:23

ACTION

Prepare to leave. Take action now as this bushfire may threaten your safety. Check that the path is clear and go to a safer place. Do not enter this area as conditions are dangerous.

The DEEP CREEK bushfire is uncontrolled. This scrub fire is burning in a west north westerly direction towards Cape Jervis, Silverton, Deep Creek and Main South Road, north west of the Deep Creek National Park. Conditions are continually changing.

For updates check the CFS website (www.cfs.sa.gov.au) or phone the Information Hotline on 1800 362 361.

Homes are not built to withstand these fire conditions, however they can be used as a shelter against heat from the fire. You may lose power, water, phone and data connections. Fire crews are responding but you should not expect a firefighter at your door.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. Protect yourself from the fire’s heat – put on protective clothing. Tell family or friends of your plan.

PREPARE TO LEAVE

Tell family and friends of your plans. Check in with neighbours. Roads may become blocked or access may change. Smoke will reduce visibility. Secure your pets for travel. Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins, and outdoor furniture away from your house. Close doors and windows to keep smoke out. If you have sprinklers, turn them on to wet the area. If you become stuck in your car, park away from bushes, cover yourself, get onto the floor as windows may break.
