The Keto Diet, intermittent fasting and the various types of cleanses and programs are all the rage right now.

And almost any plan can achieve some kind of weight loss... if you’re able to stick to it.
But that's the issue, right?

Diets and meal plans require willpower to keep them going, which is a BIG problem.

Every plan and program out there is based on rules.

”Eat this. Do not eat that”.

The promise is the same...

”If you follow these rules your urges to overeat will go away and you'll lose weight".

Yeah, but no.

If that was the case, then why are so many women (and men!) STILL overeating and STILL gaining weight?

Food rules and willpower won’t fix your overeating. Or your weight.

Never will.

You see, they offer band-aid solutions and quick fixes that pretty much just cause you to 'think' your're working things out, but no real change actually occurs.

If you're forever collecting new information, churned out randomly by so called "experts" who don't know you... you are bound for failure.

Seriously. Stop dabbling.

Mindset has almost everything to do with you losing weight and keeping it off.

Your thoughts create your feelings. Your feelings then create urges that determine what, how and how much you eat.

There's a really simple reason your brain wants you to overeat...

It's a habit.

That's what happens when you do something long enough... your brain creates a neural pathway for it.

And that pathway will get activated again tomorrow, and the next day, and the next...

Heard of the 80:20 Rule?

It applies to pretty much EVERYTHING... 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝.

Here it is: 80% of your results come from 20% of your effort.

See, when it comes to ending binge or emotional eating, there are loads of things you COULD focus on...

👉 Balancing carbs, fats and proteins

👉 Targeting blood sugar & other hormones that drive hunger

👉 Planning and prepping your meals and snacks in advance

👉 Managing your stress levels better

👉 Avoiding your triggers

👉 Healing past emotional wounds and so on.

While some of these things 𝑐𝑎𝑛 make a difference, if you try and focus on all of them, you’re going to get burned out and not really change anything.

Yet, if you only focus on one at a time, the journey will be so SLOW, you'll likely just give up.

In either case, you won't make any lasting progress.

You see, when it comes to your eating, mastering this ONE THING will only take up about 20% of your time and effort. BUT...

It will account for at least 80% of your success with food.

Why?

Because all day every day, you're listening to a nagging voice in the back of your mind that's forever telling you a bunch of crappy and dis-empowering STORIES.

Stories like...

💭 There must be something wrong with me

💭 I'll never work this out.

💭 I'm addicted to food.

💭 I'm a chocoholic.

💭 I have no self control.

💭 I must really hate myself to keep doing this.

💭 I always gain the weight back.

💭 I can never stay consistent.

💭 I'll start again on Monday.

💭 Screw It! I'll eat whatever I want.

💭 I'll make up for it tomorrow.

Problem is, if you keep allowing your mind to run a muck like this, it'll keep talking you into the very behaviours you're desperately trying to get rid of.

These stories are providing all the excuses, doubts, and limitations you need to explain why you can't and won't succeed.

NOT because the stories are true, but because you BELIEVE they are true.

In other words... 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐘.

And they become the 𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 for most of your unhealthy eating habits.

➡️ So every time you tell yourself you're a stress eater, the next time you get stressed, that story simply gives you the permission you need to repeat that same pattern again.

➡️ Every time you tell yourself you're a chocoholic, the next time you see a block of chocolate that story will instruct your brain to send you an urge to eat it.

➡️ If you always tell yourself you can be great with your eating all week, but then you always blow it on Friday's; again your belief in this story will mean next Friday you will once again find yourself elbow deep in a bag of crisps.

➡️ Every time you tell yourself you'll start over again on Monday, this "getting back on track" conservation just reinforces the same all-or-nothing approach that led you "off-track" in the first place.

Do you see what I'm getting at?

Your reality with food is a reflection of your STORIES.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐭, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥.

𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥.

And we expect these things will happen, not because that's the way thing are, but because we're listening to a bunch of STORIES that are telling us that's the way things are.

BIG Difference.

This is the ONE THING that will determine 80% of your success with food.

So, I’m going to go out on a limb today and make some assumptions about your 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐎𝐎𝐃...

I’m guessing you want to make it better, or healthier, or more relaxed, less "all-or-nothing", less obsessive, and so on.

If you're a smart cookie who can normally "work things out", chances are, you're completely frustrated with your lack of progress with your relationship to food.

Because, despite trying everything, you're still stuck in some pretty unpleasant patterns like emotional overeating, binge eating, yo-yo dieting, body shaming and so on.

See, the smarter you are, the more you rely on that amazing brain of yours to "work it out".

Makes sense.

BUT...

When it comes to food, more planning, tracking, thinking, and good intentions to "start over on Monday" won't work.

Well, not for long anyway.

I mean, when you learned how to drive, you didn't "work it out" by simply planning and thinking and researching.

You actually got in the car and used your BODY to PRACTICE making certain moves and adjustments.

It was a 💥FEELING💥 thing.

Sure, you had to understand the road rules and all the various parts of the car and what they did.

But then it was all about FEELING your way in the car.

FEELING how much pressure you had to apply to the accelerator to maintain a certain speed.

FEELING how much you need to turn the steering wheel in order to turn a corner.

FEELING when and how you need to apply the break so you can slow down or stop safely.

So, now when you drive, all those micro-movements and adjustments you have to make just to stay on the road, are programmed into your BODY so you don't need to consciously think about them.

Well, that's exactly how eating works as well.

If you want to stop overeating or binging and create a healthy relationship with food instead, more researching, thinking, planning, organizing, tracking, and rule following, will not get you there.

In fact, it will just make things worse.

That’s because (like driving a car) you need an IN-BODY experience to learn certain things.

So, when it comes to eating differently, the BODY (more than the mind) has to get involved.

After all, it is the BODY doing the actual eating, not the mind.

Once again... it's a 💥FEELING💥 thing.

Not a thinking thing.

We don't want to train our brain to THINK about food more.

It's one of the most common questions I get....

Why do I struggle so much with food?
Why can't I just eat what's good for my body and stop overeating all the other crap?
Why do I still binge even when I know it's causing so much harm?

Yes, nutrition is vitally important for your health.

BUT...

👉1. There is no one-size-fits-all eating plan.

👉2. The more diet/nutrition information you research, the more confused and overwhelmed you will become.

👉3. What used to work for your body 10 or 20 years ago, won't work for you today. That's normal, by the way.

👉4. Diets, fasts, shakes, cleanses, restrictive food rules etc. will severely disrupt your relationship with food over time.

👉5. The more you think about food, the more you train your brain to think about food. Eventually, it becomes obsessive.

👉6. The more you focus on weight loss, the more deprived, resentful and controlled you will feel. This is not a sustainable path towards creating a satisfying, trusting, and peaceful relationship with food or with your body.

👉7. The "good-bad" paradigm your mind has created with food is very inflexible. This rigidity simply won't work when you have a life that's full of surprises, challenges and uncertainty.

👉8. Believing the self-critical "𝐼'𝑚 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑒𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ" chatter in your own mind will always undermine any progress.

👉9. Having any amount of nervous system dysregulation (from trauma or other adverse experiences) makes your brain more resistant to change, no matter how "good" that change may be.

👉10. Your eating patterns will directly correlate with how internally (emotionally) safe, secure and regulated you feel.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭.
