Carla visited Young Discoverers Helensvale yesterday to donate some Read and Grow book packs created by the Griffith University Masters of Speech Path students. SPEECH loves connecting with our local community and supporting early childhood centres with the knowledge, skills and resources to help them support the speech and language skills in their care.

📢 Medicare Update for Families – From 1 March 2026

Great news for families accessing speech pathology services.

From 1 March 2026, changes to the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) mean the following conditions are now recognised as eligible for Medicare support:

• Stuttering
• Speech sound disorders
• Cleft lip and/or palate

What does this mean for you?

✔️ Medicare provides benefits for up to 8 allied health assessment sessions per lifetime under eligible MBS items
✔️ Medicare provides benefits for up to 20 allied health treatment sessions per lifetime

These changes increase access to assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based therapy for children and young adults with speech difficulties.
