Im treating a horses kneee at the moment, I thought i would share some fun fact.
Horses have no muscles in their legs below the knees and hocks.
All the movement you see in a horse's lower leg—the bending, the swift action of the hoof—is not powered by muscle in that area. Instead, it's all a complex system of tendons, ligaments, bone, and cartilage. The powerful muscles that move the lower legs are located higher up, in the horse's shoulders and thighs. The tendons and ligaments act like long, strong ropes, transmitting the force from those large muscles down to the lower leg to create movement.
This unique anatomy allows for their incredible speed and endurance as they don't have to carry extra muscular weight in their legs. It also contributes to their "stay apparatus," the system of ligaments that allows them to lock their legs and sleep while standing up without falling over.

Two old friends, a dusty campdraft arena well not that day 😆, and a dozen new friends along the way and a dozen drinks well maybe not that many 😁 Sophia taught me courage, rhythm, and joy—plus how to laugh when a ride goes sideways. Grateful for the campdraft days and the friendships that stuck.

Release of Tension: Yawning is often a physical manifestation of a release of tension. Horses like other animals, can hold stress and discomfort in their bodies. As the PEMF therapy works to relax muscles and reduce inflammation, the horse may yawn as a Way of letting go of that physical and mental stress. Thanks to the owner for caring and letting me work with this beautiful boy

About My Business & Myself

Hi, I’m Lisa , owner of The Buck Stops Here. I’ve been passionate about horses since I was 8 years old, and my lifelong love for these incredible animals has led me to explore various holistic health modalities. Over the years, I’ve studied equine and K9 acupuncture, delving into natural healing techniques to support animal wellness.

In addition to acupuncture, I’ve explored innovative therapies like photonic torch therapy, which uses light to promote healing and pain relief. Now, I’m excited to expand my services into PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) Therapy — a cutting-edge, non-invasive treatment that stimulates healing at the cellular level.

What is PEMF Therapy for Horses?

PEMF therapy involves the use of low-frequency electromagnetic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. When applied to horses, it can help:

Reduce pain and inflammation
Improve circulation and oxygenation
Accelerate tissue repair and recovery
Enhance overall wellness and performance
Support joint health and mobility

This therapy works by energizing damaged cells, encouraging them to repair more quickly, which can lead to faster recovery from injuries and improved overall health. It’s a safe, drug-free approach that complements traditional veterinary care.

Feel free to contact me at The Buck Stops Here to learn more about how PEMF therapy can benefit your horse or to schedule a session!
