Join Wednesday and her kooky family members (living, dead, and undecided) on a gripping adventure with swordfights, potions, explosions, and scarier still, family dinners.

When we talk about ’changing your lens’, this is what we mean.

We’re very done with the world trying to remove or reduce our neurodivergent traits. It’s so harmful.

Instead of changing us, let’s work on changing attitudes.

Instead of spending your time trying to teach us neurotypical ways, why not spend that time challenging the negative beliefs that you have carried for a lifetime? Why not put your energy towards educating others about it?

I know many of us here are working hard to do it already.

Glad to have you all by my side.
As I’ve said before, we’re stronger together.

To hell with the Old Way.

Words hold power.

In NSW and under the Crimes Act of 1983, su***de was finally abolished as a crime, so we should try to stop referring to it like one.

It's a seemingly minor change that can significantly impact those affected by su***de.

Decades ago, positive behavior programs were created as a way to update punishment- based approaches. But after the decade of the brain, we are now equipped with so much more information. The new paradigm understands that behaviors first and foremost can come from the autonomic nervous system. Relational safety is the new foundation, not behavioral compliance. Trauma- informed practice recognizes the centrality of relationships. In short, children and teens don't need sticks and carrots. They need attuned relationships.

I cry not because she’s going to come in first.

I cry not because she’s a future Olympian.

I cry because she’s healthy; she’s strong; she’s capable.

And I cry because I love to watch her swim. Yep. I just love to watch her swim.

I wrote these words when my daughter Natalie was 8 years old and discovered a love for swimming and competing at the YMCA. Today, I’m watching her swim at her first college conference championship.

I still have tears for the exact same reasons I had when she was eight, but knowing the disappointments and challenges she’s overcome to be here makes me even more emotional.

I cry not because of the outcome; I cry because I see the effort.

Through effort’s lens, I am able to see WHO she is, and it is far more important than what she DOES.

I’ll admit, I lived far too many years believing worth was dependent on outcome and performance, but now I know the truth.

Our worthiness is not contingent the achievement of external measures; we are worthy of love. Period. We are worthy of celebration. Period.

Our achievements are only a sliver of who we are. And if we focus solely on the sliver,
we miss the big picture,
the tiny gasps of hope,
the quiet strength of the human spirit.

As we love one another for WHO we are, we may just discover love for ourselves that doesn’t come with conditions. Just the thought of it puts a lump in my throat.

I love to see you shine, my precious daughter.

I love to see you shine, my beloved friends.

I love to see you shine, my own worthy soul.
