16th Annual Conference.
There is never enough talk about pointe readiness.
This area lacks research and clear guidance.
It was so great to see this change today.
presented her research into pointe readiness.
She had interesting insights into what currently is practised in Australia in the area of pre-pointe assessment.
Key points
👉 Teachers and healthcare providers do it differently - teachers spend a lot of time with students, and so they know their abilities well. However, Physios rely on objective findings, which are driven by injury prevention principles.
👉 both groups have valuable insights - we need to consider them both in the decision-making
👉 assessment tests need to yet be studied and validated
👉 knowing dancers' history of injuries, having good calf strength, and balance seem important inclusions in pre-pointe assessment
👉 IADMS criteria is good to follow
And my foot made it into Haydee's presentation 😁😅
