I have been supporting pregnant and birthing families since 1998. After attending many births as a support person I decided to officially train as a doula with Australian Doula College. I have 2 beautiful daughters - both of my births were the most empowering experiences of my life. Many women who choose to birth in hospital do not receive continuity of care and are often cared for by maternity providers they have never met prior to labour commencing. My role as a doula fills this gap, as we get to know each other during your pregnancy enabling us to develop a partnership based on trust and respect. During antenatal visits I assist you with access to information and education helping you to empower yourself with knowledge. I can assist you to write a birth plan and I have an extensive book and DVD library that I share with my clients. My role during labour and birth is to advocate for you and your wishes and to support you physically and emotionally throughout the process. I support families to birth in whatever setting they desire, be that in their home, a birth centre or a hospital labour ward.
