Blokes & Wellness Routines?!
When I was a kid, I remember listening to a stand-up comedian on cassette who’s routine was built around the line “I’m so tough…”. I found him hilarious and many of his lines stuck with me. One that I still remember is “I’m so tough, when I go to the pizza bar, I order a pizza with the lot - chairs, tables…”.
It’s culturally ingrained in us blokes to be tough and there’s nothing wrong with that. Men are biologically wired and physiologically built to be warriors, providers, protectors and defenders and although we don’t always get that right, it’s a privilege to be given this role. It’s common for blokes to have a self-reliant and stoic approach, even when things get hard. Although we’re getting better at talking about tough situations, “she’ll be right, mate” is still our default. This is why relationship assessments and doctors checkups are often low on a typical bloke’s priority list, as is self-care and wellness.
When it comes to women, wellness has a much higher priority. In fact the concept of wellness has been culturally feminised in the West, largely due to marketing targeting beauty, body image, weight and anti-ageing. Women long to be affirmed so it’s no surprise that marketing strategically targets this desire. I don’t know how many times I’ve had my wife put on something before we go out and ask me if it looks okay. I would’ve thought that by now (in her 40s) she would’ve worked out what works for her and not need my wardrobe guidance. But it’s not my guidance she’s after, she’s simply wanting my affirmation, to know that she’s beautiful in my eyes. I’m guilty of not always giving her that affirmation – sorry dear!
For your average bloke, wellness isn’t about achieving a state of bliss or aspiring to a new level of self-awareness, it’s about performance enhancement, resilience building, rapid recovery and a competitive edge. That’s where I can help. Using tailored frequency balancing methods, I can assist you in optimising your biology. Whether it’s assisting rapid recovery from injury, adding some ‘oil’ to squeaky joins, reducing pain and inflammation or boosting your energy and libido, you’re looking in the right place - see testimonies from the blokes in my previous post. I see lots of blokes post-30 who’s bodies are starting to fail them from the punishing demands of manual work or the sporting arena. There comes a time when ‘she’ll be right’ just doesn’t cut it. If you’d like to try an alternative to popping anti-inflammatories or groaning when you have to bend over to slide your boots on, make an appointment and experience the beauty, power and brilliance of frequency balancing for yourself. Phone Southern Ocean Smiles Holistic Dental & Wellness on 7530 5730 and tell them you need some ‘me’ time 😁
