Do you know when you are physically hungry? Do you emotionally eat? Do not judge yourself but instead be curious! Learn the difference between your physical and emotional hunger. Emotional eating is not bad but if it is your only coping mechanism when you are feeling emotional that won’t be helpful long term. Ask yourself what are you feeling and what is it that you actually needing? Try non food coping mechanisms like going for a walk, reading a book, having a shower, calling a friend or sometimes just enjoy the comfort food!

Diet culture gave us very specific rulers:
calories, scales, clothing sizes, timelines, before-and-afters.

But health isn’t linear, and it isn’t universal.
Progress might look like eating without guilt.
It might look like trusting hunger again.
It might look like choosing rest instead of restriction.

When we stop dieting, we stop comparing —
and that’s often where real healing begins.

If you’ve stopped dieting and feel uncomfortable, confused, or unsure —
that doesn’t mean you’re failing. It often means your body is relearning trust.

Progress can be subtle:
- less food noise
- fewer rules
- more flexibility
- more kindness
None of that shows up on a scale — but it matters!

“A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.”
🌊

Intuitive eating works the same way.

Not through control, rules, or willpower—
but through consistent reconnection with your body.

Learning to trust hunger cues.
Respecting fullness without guilt.
Allowing all foods without shame.
Returning to self-compassion after years of dieting.

These small, repeated acts of attunement are what create lasting change.

Not perfection. Not pressure.

Just gentle persistence—again and again.

Most people are getting less than half the fibre they need daily 😬
And no — fibre isn’t just about digestion.

Here’s WHY fibre matters 👇
✨ Keeps you fuller for longer → fewer energy crashes
✨ Supports gut health & regular bowel movements
✨ Helps balance blood sugar levels
✨ Supports heart health & cholesterol
✨ Feeds your gut bacteria (hello better immunity & mood)

Signs you might need more fibre:
– Constant hunger
– Bloating or constipation
– Energy dips
– Blood sugar spikes
– Poor digestion

So… how do you actually eat more fibre? (Without overthinking it)
🥣 Swap white cereal → oats, bran flakes, or chia pudding
🍞 Swap white bread → wholegrain or seeded bread
🍚 Swap white rice → brown rice, quinoa, or lentils
🥗 Add 1 extra veggie to every meal
🍓 Snack on fruit with skin on (apples, pears, berries)
🥜 Add nuts, seeds, beans, or chickpeas to salads & meals
🌱 Sprinkle chia, flax, or h**p seeds on yoghurt or oats

Aim for:
👉 25–30g fibre per day
👉 Increase slowly + drink enough water 💧

Looking after your health is an act of self-respect, not perfection. When you choose to nourish your body, honour your needs, and prioritise your wellbeing, you’re choosing yourself. As dietitians, we can guide and support you, but the real change happens when you believe you’re worthy of feeling strong, energised, and well. Every small, intentional choice is a step toward a healthier, more confident you.” 🌱✨

You don’t need a “new body” — you deserve care, respect, and food that you love.

Here’s to a year of eating well and feeling well 💛🥗

Merry Christmas from Good Nutrition For Life 🎄
A reminder that food is more than nutrients — it’s memories, emotions, culture, and comfort.
And if Christmas feels tricky for you, that’s valid too. Go gently, eat without guilt, and take care of yourself. No pressure. Just kindness and compassion for yourself 🤍

You’d never tell someone you love that they’ve failed for eating dessert…

or that they should be ashamed of their body…

or that they’re only worthy when they’re “being good.”

So why do you say it to yourself? 💔

Your inner voice shapes how you eat, how you care for your body, and how you feel every single day.

Speak kindly. Offer grace. Choose compassion over criticism.

Because when you start talking to yourself with love —
everything else begins to change. 💚

Let’s rewrite the story we’ve been told for too long: that only certain bodies deserve to be seen, celebrated, or confident in a bikini/togs/swimsuit.

The truth? Every body is a bikini body.
Stretch marks, cellulite, soft bellies, scars, muscles, curves, angles — they tell your story and they’re all a part of what makes us beautifully human. You don’t need to shrink, tone, or “earn” your place at the beach. You already belong there.

My stretch marks, scar and squishy belly are from having my two daughters and without this body change, I wouldn’t have the privilege of having my children.

When you put on your swimmers, you’re not just dressing for summer — you’re choosing self-love, acceptance, and freedom. You’re saying, “My body is worthy exactly as it is.”

So here’s to every shape, every size, every story. Because confidence has no measurements — and joy looks incredible on everyone. Do not miss out on the joy of summer! 🌊☀️
