SPECIAL 5 DAY RETREAT - From 17–22 March 2026, Sakya International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) in Gippsland, Victoria will host a special 5-day retreat with His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizen, Gyana Vajra Rinpoche.

Held in the peaceful natural surroundings of the SIBA Retreat Centre in W Tree, this retreat will include a series of empowerments, teachings and meditation practices connected with important deities of the Sakya tradition, including Vajrasattva, Green Tara, Hevajra and Red Tara.

We are honoured to offer a rare and precious opportunity to receive the Hevajra Cause Empowerment from His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizen at the peaceful Sakya International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) Retreat Centre in East Gippsland, Victoria.

We are delighted to welcome His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizen, Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, to Sakya International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) for a special five-day retreat in the peaceful natural setting of East Gippsland, Victoria.

This rare retreat will include a series of empowerments, teachings and Dharma activities offered by His Holiness, providing a rare and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive teachings from an authentic lineage holder of the Sakya tradition.

We have a wonderful 5-day retreat coming up with His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizen at the beautiful Sakya International Buddhist Academy (SIBA) in East Gippsland from 17–22 March.

We warmly invite a small number of volunteers to support this special event at our retreat centre in the Snowy River Country of East Gippsland, Victoria.

This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to help behind the scenes and contribute to creating a calm, welcoming environment for retreat participants and teachings.

Volunteer roles include simple practical tasks such as:
• Kitchen support
• Housekeeping
• Caring for shared spaces

Volunteers will spend time in a peaceful natural setting, connect with a supportive community, and help support this important teaching visit.

HIS HOLINESS 43RD SAKYA TRIZEN - Coming to Australia! And...visiting East Gippsland!

We are honoured to welcome His Holiness the 43rd Sakya Trizen, Gyana Vajra Rinpoche, one of the foremost teachers of the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

Born in Dehradun, India, His Holiness is a lineage holder of the ancient Sakyapa Khön tradition and the son of His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin. From a young age he undertook extensive training in Buddhist philosophy, ritual and meditation, studying under many of the most respected masters of Tibetan Buddhism, including His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama. Today, His Holiness teaches widely across Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia, offering teachings, empowerments and guidance to students around the world.

Known for his clarity, warmth and ability to make profound teachings accessible to modern life, His Holiness’s teachings embody the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist path.

It is our great fortune that we will be able to host a very special five-day retreat consisting of empowerments, teachings and Dharma activities with His Holiness 43rd Sakya Trizin in the beautiful, peaceful environment of SIBA Retreat Centre in East Gippsland, Victoria.

His Holiness will bestow the Vajrasattva, Green and Red Tara empowerments as well as the precious Two-Day Hevajra Cause Empowerment.

The Hevajra Cause Empowerment is a rare and precious opportunity to receive the transmission of this important practice that is prominent in the Sakya tradition. It opens a gateway to further practices, and only high lamas can bestow it.

As part of this 5-day retreat, there will also be:

We are fortunate to be able to host several events with His Holiness at SIBA Retreat Centre in East Gippsland, Victoria and at the Sakya Temple of Peace in Canberra in March 2026.
