And to your home!
Choose carefully what you allow inside your home… whether it’s people, things, energy, or news/media… your home should be a sanctuary, a place where you can rest and recover from the chaos of the outside world. So don’t invite anything in that might disturb that peace.
If the news at the moment makes you feel anxious, stressed or fearful, try removing as much exposure to media sources from your home as possible.
If you love your tv time to relax, opt for streaming services, “on demand” versions of the free to air channels, or a good old dvd if you still have a player. This way you have full control over what you’re watching and you minimise the chances of a lovely relaxing time being interrupted by depressing news bulletins.
Unfollow or snooze any social media pages for major news outlets or commentary so that you don’t get bombarded with bad news while you’re happily scrolling your socials.
Let friends/family/colleagues know that you’d prefer not to talk about current affairs (unless it’s regarding something that is expected to directly impact you or your safety). And gently remind them if they forget!
If you DO like to keep up with the latest news, and don’t want to block it out completely, you could try limiting yourself to only consuming news when you’re away from your home, eg. at work or in the car, so that you still feel informed and up to date, but the negative energy isn’t being brought into your home.
Limit the amount of time you spend watching/reading news as much as possible, and choose a time of day that won’t interfere too much with your mood for the day or the quality of your sleep.
Be really intentional about your surroundings (including your online environment) so that you only see/hear/read the news when YOU SEEK IT, instead of being bombarded by it, without warning, when you should be enjoying the comfort and safety of your own home.
We can’t control what’s going on in the world, but for the most part we can implement strategies to make and keep our homes as our safe havens. 🤗
Bring your peace to the table. ♥️ ~ Nanea
