Mohanji Foundation Australia is humbled and grateful to extend its support to Michael Filby’s initiative. It is both an honour and a heartfelt privilege for us to contribute towards sustaining the remarkable work he has carried forward for decades.
For more than twenty years, Michael has quietly and consistently cared for a vast stretch of Western Australia’s South Coast Highway — collecting litter, protecting wildlife, and preserving the natural beauty of the forests and coastline many of us cherish. Now in his eighties, he continues this work with the same dedication, often funding fuel, equipment and maintenance personally, without expectation of recognition or reward.
In our interactions with Michael, we recognised a rare integrity — a life lived in service, not in words, but in action. Our founder, Mohanji, was deeply moved by the sincerity and selflessness that defines Michael’s journey. His commitment is not simply about cleaning roadsides; it reflects responsibility, stewardship and love for the land and community.
Such individuals remind us that real change does not always come from large institutions — sometimes it comes from one person who chooses to care, consistently and quietly, for decades.
We are proud to stand beside Michael in this effort and encourage others to support this cause. By empowering him, we strengthen a legacy of environmental responsibility, community spirit and compassionate action that benefits the nation, the region and future generations.
