The Seven Types of Rest (and Why You’re Still Tired)
We humans are hilarious. We think one good nap will fix everything—burnout, brain fog, existential dread. But according to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, there are seven types of rest we actually need:
1. Physical – Sleep, stretching, massages. (Yes, naps count. So do bubble baths.)
2. Mental – Give your brain a break from overthinking. Try journaling or staring at clouds.
3. Emotional – Stop people-pleasing. Cry if needed. Say “no” with flair.
4. Social – Spend time with energizing people. Avoid the energy vampires.
5. Sensory – Unplug. Dim the lights. Silence the notifications.
6. Creative – Feed your imagination. Wander, doodle, dance.
7. Spiritual – Connect to something bigger. Pray, meditate, commune with the moon.
Using these wisely means not waiting until you’re a crispy, frazzled husk. It means checking in daily and asking, “What kind of tired am I?”

Poem: Rest Is a Ritual
I slept eight hours, still felt fried,
My soul said, “Girl, you’ve been denied!”
So I unplugged, I danced, I wept,
I journaled, stretched, and finally slept.
Now I rest with sass and grace —
A radiant, well-rested face.

Reflection Prompts
1. Which type of rest do I neglect most often—and why?
2. What activities truly recharge me (not just distract me)?
3. How do I know when I’m spiritually or emotionally tired?

Be sassy and sparkle :) Make a magickal day!
