Ever wonder how on earth you are going to get drop off done?
I had one of those mornings today.
🫠
Meeting before school meant school drop off looked different for us today. That was ok. I had this.
Empty tank, get fuel on the way.
Nope, power went out at 6.30am.
No coffee, ok, I can still do this, the meeting has a coffee van coming.
Message from school; coffee van can not come this morning.
No diffuser. Fussy eater, s**t storm kept brewing. Had to think on my feet how can I make toast with no power...?
No power also meant no fuel.
One child gets himself off to the bus stop.
So into town, the rest of us head empty fuel tank, traffic was a lot, did drop off number #1 now to head back towards home for meeting at school. Traffic was not moving. This meant meeting had started before I had even left town (my morning drop off is two schools, two different towns), stuck in traffic meeting starts.
Still no fuel, driving with the empty light on.
Text on my phone. Power is now back on. Get to school to catch a tiny part of the meeting, and drop 2nd child off.
Once the meeting was finished I was straight to get fuel and then home for coffee.
Last year, this would have all been way too much for me, as my nervous system was shot.
The importance of keeping your nervous system balanced sets the mood for the rest of the family.
My daughter was asking if there was a safe spot to pull over.
She wanted to know, for when we run out of fuel.
I calmy told her we would make it to school, she was then relaxed (would have been different had I not assured her calmly).
So today, the universe threw me a doosy of a morning.
And I nailed it!
Thanks for reading this far, those that did. I really hope everyone's start to term 1 is stress free and enjoyable.
Be the, calm you busy Mumma.
