Did you know that cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable cancers, when found early?

That’s why we’re spreading the word – there are now more health choices in your hands!

When you get your Cervical Screening every five years, you can have the test done by a doctor or nurse, or you can self-collect your test, using a small swab.

Talk to your doctor in-person or through telehealth about whether self-collection is the best option for your cervical screening test.

It’s quick, easy, private and just as reliable as a sample collected by your doctor or specially trained nurse.

Find out more from Cancer Council Victoria, including where to get your screening across Victoria. You’ll also find a local Moira Shire directory of clinics offering cervical screening options by following the link below:

Women's voices have been heard loud and clear - it's time to bridge the gender pain gap and prioritise women's health and wellbeing.

Last year WHGNE contributed to the development of the Women's Health Services Network's (WHSN) joint submission to the Women's Pain Inquiry.

Now, the WHSN has welcomed the Bridging the Gender Pain Gap report, supporting action to strengthen women's access to healthcare that addresses their pain and improving their experiences navigating the system.

WHGNE welcomes the release of Bridging the Gender Pain Gap - the landmark report presenting the findings of the Inquiry into Women's Pain.

The report presents powerful evidence supporting the need for action to improve women’s health and wellbeing in Victoria

We congratulate Premier Jacinta Allan, Mary-Anne Thomas MP and all those involved in undertaking the Inquiry for providing opportunity for 13,000 people to share their experience of living with pain and their perspectives on seeking treatment.

Women in rural and regional Victoria have long faced barriers to accessing care for chronic pain and other gendered health conditions - now their voices have contributed to a suite of recommendations to drive systemic and practical change.

As a regional women's health service, WHGNE looks forward to supporting the implementation of the recommendations in the Women's Pain Inquiry report. Now is the time for action.

When are you due for your next Cervical Screening Test?

Getting your test every five years contributes to the prevention, early detection and successful treatment of cervical cancer.

Women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 74 can choose to self-collect their test or visit their GP or specially trained nurse. Depending on your circumstances, talk to your doctor about which method is right for you.

Whatever you choose, it’s safe, easy and effective!

If you’re not exhibiting cervical cancer symptoms and you’d like to self-collect your Cervical Screening Test, telehealth appointments are available through .

More health choices are in the hands of rural and regional Victorians! Book your test today.

We congratulate the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria and the Victorian State Government on this Australia-first piece of legislation, which if passed, will establish a democratically elected body to represent Aboriginal communities in the Victorian State Parliament.

We stand with RANZCOG in rejecting these claims

The Trump administration has made highly controversial claims about the causes of autism and ADHD, asserting that paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) use during pregnancy increases the risk of children being diagnosed as neurodivergent.

RANZCOG joins leading clinicians and scientists worldwide in rejecting these claims. Scientific evidence shows no link between paracetamol use in pregnancy and autism or ADHD during childhood, with several large and reliable studies directly contradicting the administration’s statement.

The causes of neurodivergence are incompletely understood and remain complex, involving both genetic and environmental factors. Earlier studies raising concerns about paracetamol could not determine whether the medicine itself was responsible, or whether other factors explained the association.

A much larger and stronger study, published in 2024 by Ahlqvist and colleagues, looked at 2.5 million children in Sweden. When they accounted for important factors like family history of autism/ADHD and sibling comparisons, they found no link between paracetamol use during pregnancy and children developing autism or ADHD.

The use of medications during pregnancy should always balance the potential benefits against any potential harms - both of the medication and of the condition being treated - to the mother and the fetus. The Ahlqvist study provides conclusive evidence that paracetamol use during pregnancy does not increase the chance of neurodivergence in the offspring and therefore should be considered safe to use in pregnancy where there is a clear reason to do so.

People who are uncertain about medication use in pregnancy should discuss this with their doctor or midwife.
